Just disabled it with Shizuku + Canta. Hopefully it’s enough.

on AI-generated books are flooding Amazon and tanking sales for human authors in c/technology@lemmy.world · 18 Aug 2026
If I had to guess, most of these ‘books’ are some kink bullshit. Ever since I looked for the rankings in the Kindle section, it was flooded by books with men or women stripping on the cover and some random erotic titles. Among them some rare exceptions (and most of these were some cheap self-help stuff).
That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised this is what’s being actually affected. I can’t see the actual data or content of the article though, because it requires me to subscribe and I definitely won’t.

Exactly what I wonder. I have a list of 110 (and growing) books I want to read, all of them written by human beings, and I discover something new all the time. There’s no way I will buy a random book on Amazon, be it from AI or by some author I’ve never heard anything about.

on Take-Two CEO Admits GTA 6 Could Have Cost More Than $80, but Rockstar Chose Restraint and Overdelivered Value in c/games@lemmy.world · 12 Aug 2026
I’ve read it (from here: https://archive.ph/ci9vj#selection-591.0-859.53 because I don’t want to give them the clicks). And? I agree with @chickenf622@sh.itjust.works , it smells like an advertisement. In fact, it doesn’t just smells, it practically screams like corporate propaganda.

But was he prepared to be under their overwatch?

It might as well be his doom (pun intended). Can’t Activision file a lawsuit against him for uploading that on Github?
It smells a lot like a honeypot to me. It doesn’t seem to have any proof that taking the exam actually converts to any benefit for real people, AND they collect TONS of data from people taking this exam.
Their privacy terms indicates they don’t directly sell your data to 3rd parties. But they say that, if another company eventually acquires them, they inherit all the data and can basically update the privacy terms how they see fit and do whatever they want with it. They also admit to share your data to a lot of other companies and services in order to be able to do their ‘job’ whatever it might actually be, which in simple terms probably mean they share your data to commercial partners so these partners can do whatever they want with it.
So, even if they really don’t (directly) sell your data, God knows what they and their partners will use it for.
It seems very clear to me, though, that they will collect all your data and will not give you anything in return but false hopes.
