Refusing to unlock your properly secured device for them will result in its confiscation and perhaps your detention.
Password managers and browser history are sticking points. You could not use your device for anything, but one of your services might rat you out.
You kinda need a travel phone.

We needed AI models before the microphones could be useful. Storing off voice audio and transcribing it was only useful when the State wanted to know what you’re up to. Only now that a model can reduce it to text and add it to your dossier, does it truly become useful intel.

You can also take any flagship smartphone with a wide-angle lens and aim it down at 45 degrees, video content straight ahead, and unwarp/crop it in software. Ever since the advent of the smartphone camera, people have been voyureing.
It does make problems, it makes the creeps a little more brazen. There are assholes going on dates with that shit, and there are people defeating the camera light. It feels creepier to the masses because it’s no longer surreptitious, but it’s only not blaringly obvious like holding a phone up (which they wrongly assume voyeurs are doing.

Transport isn’t the issue, but both those protocols provide low-bandwidth hosting requirements. NomadNet is straight out of the 90’s bbs territory, and I2P is slow enough on its own to preclude anything too fancy. It’s forcing us to go back to the small distributed hosting models, which I consider a good thing. They’re also resistant to censorship and, in some cases, reasonably privacy-conscious

You can use ink bottles for a number of refills before they foul or fail; refilling is fine, but those piezo heads don’t last forever. Wanting nonproprietary inkjet heads will never be feasible, which is honestly why I had discounted the whole project. An inkjet is a wrapper of barely complex tech around a super complex printead.
It’s like saying you’re going to make an open source car, they going well, except the motor, you’re going to need an engine out of a 1997 honda-civic to make it work.
As long as the heads are availalbe from HP, and they don’t go nuts on pricing or some soul in china is willing to sell copies it’ll work. That’s just not the normal far for and open device.

Roll paper isn’t ideal, proprietary cartridges are not great. I applaud the effort, but it’s all the easiest parts of the printer opened while the hard parts are left to capitalism.

Legally, the kid wasn’t old enough to contract the ads.
It would not stand in court.
I question using his work card to pay for some robucks for his kid.
I question that his credit card was saved for Robucks, but was able to be used on Google Ads.
I would not be surprised if he lost his job. I think that’s not unreasonable though the economy sucks.

This is exacty what I’m seeing. I’ve been using it in a DevOps capacity to act on runbooks. The same wrote task 3 months ago now consume 4-5x more tokens. this correlated closely with when anthropic released auto mode.

You’re treating can host a hotspot and can get onto someone else’s network for internet access as the same thing. They’re different.
(though they weren’t testing the TV itself data ex filtration)
That document does not support your claim. Being able to hijack a remote control session is not the same as using it for internet access.
Other “sounds paranoid” things companies are doing WiFi Radar is overblown. They can precisely locate you by data bursts off your cellphone without WiFi, both through tower triangulation and in person through cellular band yagi receivers if they wanted to.
The TV trying to hack other networks to send home your voice/watch traffic is both unverified and extremely unlikely. The always-on speech recognition itself is far more likely to have been accidental debug left on in a production build than a nefarious purpose simple because of the level of damage to brand recognition and the eventual lawsuits.

Keep in mind, they have to pay for those services, to identify traffic on your tv that’s presumably not registered to a meaningfull address.
FireTV could conceivably do it because they own the ecosystem, but even then, that’s a low-bandwidth network and doesn’t tie you to a physical address, just that the traffic is in your general neighborhood.

smart boards, remote power off. I generally prefer (as I mentioned in other comments) to run them from PCs or an HDMI matrix, but I’ve had reasons to network-connect some here and there.

You wouldn’t add them to the network. HDMI to the conf room table or a dedicated phone controller. Maybe an HDMI matrix.
Forget the TV calling home for advertisement info, i’m worried about holes in their screen mirroring and microphone that would let people snoop from the floors above/below me. If we need smart features, we tie them to either real media hardware, or plug them to a small computer.

High risk low reward. the eFlash would almost certainly be wiped in a reset. If you did get to it, it’s not removable. If you unsoldered it, the new one could need a base load on it for it to work. You could probably buy a used board from another TV, but it could well already have issues. Getting the screen off and back on in one piece isn’t trivial.
A friend of mine recapped his 75" Took most of a day, it did fix the tv, but he complained that it was definitely not worth it.

KeePass is great, but it needs multi-user, granular permissions and conflict resolution on sync. Sharing with multiple simul users is like trying to work on stone tablets.

Keepass is great it if’s just you. If you’re sharing with a family, it’s ill-equipped.
Sharing = putting the file on shared storage (Syncthing, Nextcloud, SMB, Git, etc.)
No per‑item permissions
No audit logs
No user roles
No built‑in conflict resolution

Unfortunately Bitwarden might not be as super of a choice as it was howmation.com/…/bitwarden-2026-what-really-change… they’re slipping into private equity.
At some point they’ll stop supporting Vaultwarden, at that point anyone with skin in the game should 100% get out.
