I have the theory that if it wasn’t for the movies, the series wouldn’t have gotten a fraction of the popularity it has.
Specially the music. I think the score did most of the heavy lifting in giving the movies that “whimsy magical feeling”
Indeed, Harry Potter is marketing hype that’s it, as a kid I only read Sorcerer’s Stone cover to cover, then I moved onto Redwall.
