Let me see if I’m following. Please correct me where necessary.
Centrist democrats start off at a compromised position, and compromise further.
Centrist voters bid to an extreme high, so that their compromise is where they actually want to be.
And, both these strategies are equally dumb.
Is that all correct?
[edit: I just realized why the second position is dumb. The question I was leading up to was ‘why is the second position dumb, that sounds like a solid tactic’, and then I saw that they compromised on free healthcare.]
I think from your edit, youre getting it. But to be clear:
Centrist voters bid to their exact position. They are walking into the negotiating room with their ideal final offer.
A smart centrist democratic voter would vote for a far left politician, thus bidding to an extreme high, so that their compromise is where they want to be.
It sounds like you may not be American, but for context completely unrelated to this comic, Amy Schumer’s uncle is feckless Chuck Schumer. Obviously, and not just in the interest of not wanting to get sued, I chose the name Chuck at random.
