I mean, IRC is not dead, there are still active chatrooms and there’s even an implementation that allows sharing media over the room.
I think IRC will always have its place, because it’s simple and easy to set up. Great for communities when someone wants to chat about what the community is about or needs quick help.
I for myself miss forums, especially since it acts as an archive as well as for various other things. It’s atrocious how Discord managed to take its place and made things so much worse.
