When you register domain in a normal way, you are assigned to be the domain administrator and entered into WHOIS. For the year lease, the domain name is yours, and your registrar cannot take it down unless they have the legal reason to. You can also transfer your domain to another registrar.
Proxy registrars like Njalla keep ownership of the domain, keep themselves in WHOIS and can take your domain back for any reason at any point, because it’s actually theirs. You also cannot move it to other registrars for the same reason.

Turns out, some people can vote for candidate A and get candidate B either way.
Especially considering that US electoral system works in a way that even if the majority of the population chooses candidate A, candidate B can still win the election.
Iirc, this is exactly what happened to Trump, at least on his first term. Most votes were for Clinton, but Trump won anyway.
Your position could be understandable back in the day when it was mostly Russia and China who acted like that, and so it could be easy to feel superior by ignoring the objective factors getting into the equation. Nowadays, it spreads, and remaining ignorant about it will likely bite you in the not-so-distant future.

If you’re a dictator of a heavily sanctioned country, you may consider autonomy as one of the priorities. Also, given the current relations, you can make GPL unenforceable and turn Linux into a dictator’s paradise. Take Red Star OS as an example. This is Linux, too!

Fact check: Russia has at least four domestic Linux distributions (Astra, ALT, ROSA, RED), all of them perfectly functional. They feature editions complying with Russian regulations for enterprise use, and offer simpler options for personal/educational use.

Russia has some Elbrus CPUs locally produced, but they are very outdated and very expensive, and also have a different processor architecture, so they find limited use. Apparently, they didn’t bother supplying one for the President.

I was writing a long answer about misinterpretation of heterosexuality and the proven fact 1984-style word play doesn’t erase what is there natively, and also fuck you for throwing slurs around and all that, when the root of the conflict occurred to me. And maybe that’s something that helps settle it.
I treat sexuality as a descriptor, a label, and you treat it as an identity. To me, words should serve as the best available approximation of the experience, which is fluid and complicated and doesn’t fit into narrow boxes anyway; to you, it’s a legacy, a group, a part of who you are (correct me if I’m wrong).
I have no problem switching from heterosexual to bicurious/bisexual, and maybe to pansexual should I meet more nonbinary folks in person. To you, being bisexual is a pillar of who you are, and switching it up is as problematic as switching an engine on the go, and maybe that really shouldn’t be done. You are, indeed, a sole arbiter.
But all these identities grew around words. And words can either bring clarity, or add to the confusion. You yourself claim not all bisexuals are attracted to people of all genders. Wouldn’t it be great if people could properly clarify and make a distinction between being attracted to people of two genders, several of them, and all of them using the terms we already have, and which are widely accepted? This whole “how are bisexuals different from pansexuals” question could be settled overnight! Nothing needs to be invented; all that’s left is to make a good use for the existing vocabulary. And maybe, when new people decide to make these words their identity, there would be waaay less confusion about it.
How would that settle us?

The bi part of bisexual refers to both homosexual (same gender) and heterosexual (different gender) so nobody’s left out.
Exactly, and as I said, this was very true when we considered that there are only two genders. Now if you’re attracted to people of more genders, there are terms that would fit you better. Why produce the confusion by dragging the confusing and wrong two-gender era terminology into the modern world?
If you’re attracted to men, women and agenders, why take the *bi-*sexual umbrella, especially when we have correct, more apt terms now? Bi is two, and two specifically. Bidirectional. Bipolar. Bicycle. Bipedal. Bisexual. Bi is two. Tri is three. Quadro is four. Why sexuality of all things should make an exception because some people didn’t know better decades ago?

BBS have quite a revival with LoRa and other similar technologies emerging. Basically, people put their own radios at home and use them for messaging and yes, for BBS. Some networks, like Reticulum, also support virtually any connections, including your regular Internet one.
Check out Reticulum (might take some time to wrap your head around it, hit me up if you need any explanations), and also MeshBBS if you run on Meshtastic/MeshCore networks.

For anyone genuinely confused:
Monosexual (mono = 1) - attracted to people of exactly 1 gender. Heterosexuality, homosexuality and attractions to any other specific gender and nothing else go here.
Bisexual (bi = 2) - attracted to people of exactly 2 genders, most typically male and female, but can be anything. This term can be used by pansexuals in the context where people are not properly aware of the existing of other genders.
Polysexual (poly = several) - attracted to people of several (3 and more) various genders. Pretty self-explanatory at this point.
Pansexual (pan = everything) - attracted to people of all genders. If you’re sexy to a given pansexual, they don’t care what your gender is - male, female, or any flavor of nonbinary. Just be cool.
The confusion stems from the previous understanding that there are only two genders, and the fact the awareness of different genders came before pansexuality or polysexuality were widely discussed, which made a giant mess with pansexuals categorizing themselves as bisexuals and then claiming being bisexual is not just about two genders. It is, it’s in the name, and we have proper terms for other options now.
FYI: Some people also prefer the term “omnisexual”, which also means being attracted to people of all genders, but accentuates the gender differences. So, instead of pansexual “I don’t care of your gender, just be cool”, it’s more like “women are cute and nice, men are strong huggers and damn boy be the big spoon, agenders are special and whew I like that” etc. etc. Basically, loving everyone, but each gender is attractive in its own unique way.

PC prices will be heated up by demand for hardware to run local models. There will always be more advanced models requiring more advanced hardware, or at least for a good while. First it’ll need better hardware to perfect the text generation, then to improve image generation, then to improve video generation, then to make flawless code in large projects like games, etc. etc.
At the very least, GPUs and RAM will probably stay overly expensive for a while.

He has a simple, but actually complicated task: boost AI hype, but reduce the competition, ESPECIALLY on the side of open source Chinese models.
That’s the sole reason for “AI is cool, but dangerous, and we must control it” and “We must break free from China” rhetoric. He is tasked to make AI grow as a proprietary technology, so that there’s any chance at all to recoup the immense investment that was made. If open, local LLMs maintain their position, OpenAI cannot leverage its own position to demand exorbitant prices for access to ChatGPT - and that is the key condition to recoup all of the investments that were made.

I think the gist here is making a distinction between AI coding and AI auditing.
To the best of my knowledge, AI coding is still significantly behind human coders in code quality and security. AI auditing, on the other hand, allows a lot of previously missed bugs to come to light, and actively helps in making code better.

Honestly, I expect Gemini to remain a niche thing pretty much forever.
It does not offer what a regular user wants: a convenient, interactive, extensible, multipurpose Web. For most, it’s incredibly boring and outdated. Even worse that it requires its own browser or translation through the local server.
At the same time, a lot of its advantages are specifically due to low adoption. What makes it more free and people-centric, for example, is exactly that barely anyone knows of its existence. Nothing stops one from infesting it much the same way regular Web is.
What would be curious, though, is the interaction between the concepts of this project and projects like Reticulum. We may need to develop alternative means of communication, including low-bandwith channels like LoRa, and for that, simple text-based sites are perfect.
