• I don’t mind the articles, what I mind is annoying though.

  This is paragraph two where I reiterate that I am just annoyed by the actual annoying thing.

  This is the third paragraph, where I reiterate that I don’t mind articles, again, then remind you that I am annoyed by something else.

  This is the seventh paragraph, down at the bottom of the page, where I finally mention my real annoyance is that they don’t make their point until the bottom because they want to get you to read all the repetitive nonsense before hand.

• I sat on a jury for a murder trial a few years ago. It’s incredible how sloppy it all felt.

  Real life is absolutely not Law & Order where the top cops and prosecutors have a perfect case of evidence and then the killer confesses.

  Two things that stuck out, witnesses in the car, all gave basically the same account, but not one gave the same drugs they picked up at the time they stopped for drugs.

  The defense couldn’t quite decide which direction the car was facing in relation to the other vehicle (it was a drive by)

  Also they had a video from a gas station they stopped at. And it was like… I guess that is a person, it’s not obvious if it’s anyone involved in this case.” Because it’s a cheap gas station camera on a roof, not some perfect HD zoom zoom enhance image.

• Reverse centaur is a terrible term. Even having heard it explained, repeatedly, I could not even explain what it means. It’s not catchy, too many weird syllables; the word “centaur” makes it sound nerdy as fuck for any casual use, I doubt most normal people even remember what a centaur is; and it just does not immediately convey it’s meaning as a result.

• I don’t know about buying, but the ones I have seen basically hold the book open at a 45 degreeish angle, to not damage the spine. Then you press the pages with a 45 degree set of glass plates. The actual “scan” is a camera of some kind that slodes back.and forth between the two halves on a mount.

  Also, and I have no idea what race this person is, but facial recognition tents to be even worse when it comes to minority groups, especially black people. Because its more often created and tested by white or asian dudes.

  Which has absolutely terrible implications when you consider it gets used for things like Flock, for crimes, which already have a racism problem skewed against black people.

• Its pretty good at giving correct answers but god its slow and expensive. You gotta print and post like 2 million letters asking your question, wait for the concensus to be achived, wait for the comittee to conbein and compile the answer, then wait for the answer to come back.

  They could at least streamline it a bit, maybe call instead of mailing the answer, and save a bit on the post by just having a dedicated radio signal that blasts the question to the entire population instead of having to send everyone a letter.
