Just wanted to say thanks, this page mentions the ignition drivers for Linux. My Sim racing rig is the only PC that runs windows in my house purely because I have an HP reverb G2 headset for racing. this might finally get me completely off windows, which is a sensational feeling

Can you tell me more, is this just for the Lenovo explorer, or other wmr headsets?

Wait, I’m the guy you corrected. What’s the easy way to remember affected vs effected? You just told me which is which, but do you have a trick like you do for the X vs Y axis on a graph?

Yes you’re still effected.
It’s not unreasonable to assume it may have been connected to the internet unbeknownst to you if there’s been an unsecured network close by that your tv could connect to.
An attacker could (and gamers Nexus demonstrated this) connect to your television and read transcripts of things you’ve said in your house when you didn’t realise your tv was listening. If you’ve never used the voice recognition wake word around your tv you might be ok, but an attacker can also change the wake word to something you might casually say (they showed this too)
If you do own an LG tv it’s worth watching the gamers Nexus video to fully be aware of what is happening.

You can pirate and mod games on Linux no worries. I pirated WWE 2k25, and I’ve modded both Minecraft and Kerbal space program.

on Amid RAM price hikes, Microsoft reportedly raises Windows license cost, forcing OEMs to hike prices even further on hardware in c/technology@lemmy.world · 12 Aug 2026
And they’d get away with it too if it wasn’t for those damn Linux distributions.
VR is expensive, you either pay with money, or pay with your private data (this is why meta vr is so cheap).
However, I like my HP reverb G2. You can pick these up second hand for basically nothing, under $200.
Microsoft ended support for windows mixed reality with windows 11, but there is a driver on steam that makes it work. Major downside is Linux support is not good. But if you’re using windows, that would be my good cheap recommendation.
