They never said it did. Only that a laptop with encrypted drives is where secure boot makes sense. The OS can be as secure as it wants but if the drive isnt encrypted it can be accessed.

on DigitalOcean contributes 3 million and joins the Omacom (Omarchy) Foundation in c/selfhosted@lemmy.world · 10 Sep 2026
Thats fine. We just ignore Omarcy and hold our upstream projects to account if they start trying to implement omacy features.

I dont like Omarcy and DHH but its pretty obvious why hes getting the funding and not other projects. The reason this gets funded and stuff like Gnome and KDE doesnt is because DHH has influence, he isnt a foss purist and he has no bureaucracy holding him back.
No one cares when KDE makes a post trying to drive linux adoption. When DHH does it drives thousands of new linux users. DHH alone can market the distro to new people in a way most foss projects cant.
When a company tries to partner with another project not only do they get very little exposure because the community is small and resistant to advertising but they also often get attacked and purity tested by the users and it generates bad press. When DHH partners with a company his users think its cool and try out the product. It doesnt matter how scummy the company is or if its closed source subscription only.
Investors also see Omachy as something where changes can be made without needing 4 years of arguing with one guy rejecting every change. A fast moving tech focused platform with a good marketer could pull people out of the microsoft apple ecosystem to a place where products can freely compete without entrenched platforms stealing their idea and making their version the default

on Happy Manjaro Certificate expiration day! To all who celebrate! in c/linuxmemes@lemmy.world · 26 Aug 2026
Its intended behavior from Debian team. because they ships a version of the software at the time and only backport security patches. So if the version they ship has bugs then those bugs stay for years. This generates quite a bit of noise for upstream projects but it is what it is.

on Bluesky’s active user base is shrinking as its focus expands beyond the app: 10.4 million monthly active users worldwide in June 2026, down 27.2% year-over-year. in c/technology@lemmy.world · 13 Aug 2026
I think the worst aspect is being able to take someones very short post and then put your own post above it and boost it out to your followers. It leads to context being stripped and an influencer induced dogpile.

Mastodon is the same, its a cesspit. Its the microblogging format that attracts the worst people and fosters the worst interactions.
oh no a tech worker is whining about something again. Quick everyone rush to their defense. They must remain perfectly comfortable and happy inside their air conditioned luxury office.
Its work and you’re paid well for it. Suck it up or put your skills to use at a different company.
