• Bad call. Who has the power to delete the evidence? Right, the perpetrators. Also most abuse cases don’t even make it to the police, let alone court. If you think someone’s invading your privacy by possibly recording you, how easy do you think it is to make a case against them? What if it’s not a once-a-year thing, but becomes a common occurrence, like cat calling? Are you going to report every one? Maybe you are not the kind of person that gets victimized, but that wouldn’t make it any less of an issue.

  When viewing public content, like YouTube or Maps, sure you’re right. But that’s besides the point given that the post clearly refers to editors, not just viewers.

  On cloud editors where my documents are non-public until I explicitly enable public access “for anyone with the link” - by using the share button - it’s not much tracking but literally required functionality. Even if we ignore corporate crap, that also applies to privacy focused, self hosted options like Immich

  Can’t I just export to a file and share that? Yes, in some cases, but not in all. I might need collaborative features or I’m working on a weird type of document where I can’t expect the recipient to have compatible native software installed, or it might be in a work context where my personal choices for software might be limited.

• I’m guilty. I’ve had a depressive friend who [subconsciously] consistently tried their hardest to misinterpret everything [I said] in the most offensive way possible, even if that was clearly contradictory. Which is to say: is not impossible to be “too sensitive” (for you’re own good), but this post is probably still accurate, most of the time.

• If you want VPN support in docker containers, I was surprised his well gluetun works with any container.

  Though ironically metube is the one thing I intentionally took out of the VPN, because too baby sites I cares about blocked it and I didn’t care about VPNs too in that use case.
