Well that’s the loophole in the Fourth Amendment, as long as anyone gives the data willingly the government is off the hook, even if the person who gave it stole it illegally. As long as the govt didn’t force someone to without due process, they’re in the clear.

That’s fine, yes the plaintiff should sue everyone they can as good legal practice but any claim against the facial recognition vendor gets dismissed immediately because they literally did nothing wrong. They were asked who was in a picture, it was the innocent grandma who was a victim of identity theft, and the cops went ahead and just named the victim the prime suspect for no actual reason.

eventually someone’s just gonna sell cloud computing at a competitive price through a free model and obliterate anthropic and openai. it’ll be like ISP, AOL was the hottest company in the world at one point with a “locked down ecosystem” and now it’s just a tiny brand with a tiny but loyal customer base of senior citizens.

What did the facial recognition do wrong though? The cops gave them a known fake ID and asked them does this look like anybody. Well, that fake ID did look like the innocent grandma in Tennessee. (Btw the surveillance footage of the actual suspect looked nothing like the fake ID or the innocent grandma.)
The FR service didn’t do anything wrong, the cops just took what was supposed to be an alert to a possible victim of identity theft, and turned it into a false arrest and kidnapping.
It’s like if you reported a crime and you tell the cops that the victims name is Jean Smith, and then they just go arrest her and throw her in jail for six months.

The cops gave the software company a fake id and said “anybody look like this picture in this fake ID?”. Then the software company says “yeah that picture on the fake ID looks a lot like this grandma in tennesee.”
That’s on the cops 100%.

The taxpayers vote for these idiot tough on crime prosecutors though. Whens the last time you ever heard a voter say competency and avoiding insanely dumb lawsuits was one of their top issues? This is even dumber, the suspect on camera looks nothing like the grandma.
The AI recognition instead made the mistake by comparing the known-to-be-fake ID the suspect used to the innocent grandmas face.

That’s the point, if he only used his personal account at home he’d be getting the notifications, there’d be a credit limit etc etc. Instead he used the work card at home for a personal youtube purchase. So yeah, it’s not a bit much, he put a huge amount of money that didn’t belong to him at risk for a personal convenience and now he has to deal with the consequences. Same as if a valet “borrows” a customers $118k car for a quick trip to to 7-11, and 99 times nobody even notices and the 100th time he gets hit by a redlight runner but now he’s in trouble because it wasn’t his car to put at risk. And it wasn’t dad of the year’s money to take convenient risks with either.

I really don’t know what I’m talking about but I always assumed bisexual was attracted to both traditionally presenting men and women, but maybe not so attracted to others, androgynous presenting or otherwise.
Pansexual is really like they dont even consider a persons gender at all, they can be attracted to anyone binary presenting or non-binary presenting

It’s not a bit too much, people have to understand what things are worth snd what risks they’re subjecting those things to. It could have been an idiot in a $118k car changing lanes without looking and wrecking $118k that way, or someone using a company card for “de minimis” personal purchases. They’re both things that have no negative consequences 999 times out of 1000, and the 1000th time something goes wrong and you’re SOL.
We’re all smart enough to understand the concept of tail risks, most of us just choose to gamble with our lives and money anyway.

It mattered because he could have fired you for cause on the spot, our entire legal/financial system is built on the assumption that you don’t mix business money with personal money. Your company accountant(s) had to write a paragraph explaining to the auditors how you made an innocent misclick mistake and company policy is very clear that they don’t do that, otherwise the auditors would have not signed your company’s financial statements.
Wdym? You literally have one company you can use to connect to your family apparently. That’s a monopoly on your family communications.
