• When I was a teenager, I really wanted to work in the video game industry. Really glad I don’t. I still want to learn to make video games, but I never want to work for any video game company. Especially any that have been around for say… 20 years and/or publicly traded.

• In my experience, the code AI generates, can be VERY bad. Like, sure it might work, assuming it didn’t randomly hallucinate and decide to randomly change a variable name half way through for no reason. But it’ll be a code base only AI can read. It looks like the spaghetti code I wrote when I first started learning. I’ve watched people build up massive documents to help guide the AI and it still crap out a mess.

  If you know how to code, and you know exactly what it needs to do, and you manage to contain it… it can produce code that’s fine. But if you’re not a SME in the language, libraries, frameworks, etc… and you just let AI do whatever, it’s garbage-in garbage-out. But because the computer did it, because AI did it, people just implicitly trust it. Despite the warnings and general knowledge that AI will make mistakes.

  AI has really shown how and why so many people fall for obvious lies on social media.

• I used to pay for this. Started a long time ago, when YouTube’s content was… well, better. But now they’re pushing EVERYTHING towards “Shorts” and it’s pure garbage. Not only does it NOT curate for the people watching it, like how many times do I have to say “not intereste”, “don’t show me this channel anymore,” or just fucking report channels for their “algorithm” to get a clue. AI being spammed left and right, and they claim they can’t do shit about it, meanwhile, you whistle 3 seconds of a Nintendo song and your channel already has a strike against it.

  The amount of content farms that’s just pulling crap from reddit, putting dumb pointless videos behind it, while AI reads a made-up story. The amount of content where it’s just some fucker who’s just staring at the screen like a creepy fucker, meanwhile something from the MCU plays in the background… they’re adding nothing. Or the pre-recorded “masked” heads (like Spider-Man, Iron Man, etc.) randomly gesturing at… fuck all.

  People used to make things. YouTube had content. Not saying it was all great. Since TikTok got big, I feel like YT chasing after them things started to go downhill. And then “AI” comes out and the quality just fucking tanks.

  I don’t pay for YT Premium anymore. PiHole + AdBlock is used everywhere now. And if a YouTuber promotes anything, literally, fuck that product/company as well. Fucking scorch earth on all those fucking advertisers and the algorithm.

• Indie games pump Valve’s stock, popular or not—they should get some profit sharing even if they don’t sell IMO but that’s just me. Like a community dividend. Unfortunately, not too many people demand more from Valve.

  Hopefully, by “stock” you mean available supply of games and not stock as in the stock market, since Valve is a private company and isn’t traded.

  As for profit sharing… no. That would incentivise even more porn AI slop games to be dumped on there, as if that wasn’t already a problem. The “content farms” that are just going to churn out crap… would get all of the community share. And large companies would very likely ignore Steam going forward because again, potentially less profit. Unless it comes from Valves share, which that doesn’t make a lot of business sense to give up revenue in order to pay those who weren’t successful, a “participation award” of a paycheck.

• The uniget is a front end for multiple package managers, with a GUI front. But Chocolatey is still a separate thing, same with winget. But the GUI gives you an easier front for using those package managers without remembering commands.

  When it comes to WingetUI vs UniGet… I had to look that up. My guess is WingetUI is abandoned. And was a fork of UniGet

  This repo hasn’t been touched in 3 years github.com/rumplin/WingetUI This website winget-ui.org/index.html#faq I have no idea if it’s the official one, but it doesn’t link to the open source project it says that backs it. Which is sketchy. So UniGet seems to be the actual official project that’s moving forward.

  My guess is UniGet is a bigger project, supporting multiple package managers for multiple OS (supports Windows/Mac/Linux).

• You’re not wrong. Swatting in that area is going to be so easy. United States police force has already shown for years now that if AI says anything they’ll just go with it and not question it. So if someone lives in the area and you want them ‘dealt with’ by the police, it’s going to be very easy. And the police aren’t going to look into it or hold themselves accountable. And the AI won’t be questioned or removed. If this goes large scale you can just make an API… Don’t like someone on twitch, well when you know it there will be an app for that…
