This is the problem with social media. Outrage drives clicks, so “feminism” is portrayed as a caricature of brightly died hair, “ugly” women, feeble men, and the stereotype of unemployed art students.
It’s exactly what we were warned about in books like 1984 and animal farm. The media controls thoughts, who controls the media?

Same with Blu Ray. People claim that porn was responsible for the adoption of it over HD-DVD, but Bluray was a disc with nearly double the capacity in the same form factor. In what world would people choose HD-DVD?
People didn’t care that betamax was technically better quality. You couldn’t record an entire sports game on a betamax tape.

This is why I’ve not used one. The whole point of passwords is privacy, yet people put them all in one place controlled by someone else where you have no way to verify how secure they actually are. And you need a password to get into it, so now there’s one password that could be breached to gain access to everything.

Which do you want? A single physical disc that is a tangible product? Or access to a server that has data redundancy?
You seem to want the guarantee of high availability servers but expect to claim ownership of the data. You never owned the data, and you don’t now.

If you buy a CD with software and it gets shipped to your house, you own the disc, not the software. It’s always been this way, we are just now living in a world where the technology exists to take the software away from you after you paid.
Unfortunately there is no realistic way that people would boycott GTA for anything, let alone this. People tried to rally for a Sony boycott and it has as much affect as a bug trying to push back a truck.
