Only if I had something like a Graphene phone, but with the prices incumbent in their current Motorola deal, that’s about a decade away.
For what it’s worth, you can explore the second hand market for cheaper Pixels + not giving money directly to Google.

I have a similar use-case.
What I did for the VPN was to use Wireguard. I configured it using wg-easy, and it’s, well, very easy. What your need to do is:
- Install wg-easy via Docker.
- Configure it and create a profile.
- Open ports in your router to allow port-forwarding the Wireguard tunnel.
- (Optional). Install a Wireguard client on your cellphone. I use “WG Tunnel”, a FOSS client. Note that the author of the app is a bit of a religious nut, If you care about that kind of stuff.
- Scan the profile QR generated in wg-easy on your WG Tunnel.
- Increase the “PersistentKeepalive” parameter to something like 30 seconds in WG Tunnel. This will increase the tunnel’s resiliance to disconnections due to small packet losses; without that, Jellyfin/Navidrome will constantly disconnect.
- Open Navidrome/Jellyfin, and done :)

My issue with apoliticism is that, IMO, it’s impossible: it just endorses the status quo, and is simply a fachade to hide that.
Paraphrasing Desmond Tutu: “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor”.
And it’s fine if you want to conform to the status quo, not every single discussion we have every single day should be this huge decision-making take-a-stand and die-on-that hill and so on, but just be transperent and honest about it, instead of hiding in that “apolitical” image.
