• Situation with TVs way worse. Most non-chinese phones do not spy on you 24/7. Yes, some (if not all) major apps logs everything you do, but it not nearly close to what GN discovered with LG TVs: they literally record your screen and logs everything you say.

  Also, on android you often have options to opt out or change software and sometimes even switch to different OS. Best option that I found for my LG C2 — is to just turn internet off.

• Well, it’s not like problems are guaranteed, most things just work, except maybe Steam.

  I heard there was big investment from Germany into flatpack, I hope it become more polished, it would be great. I do like fully native apps, but I like stability and ease of install better.

  Cause it was disaster so big that Sony had to shutdown it within month, it even got plenty of coverage and documentaries. Realistically, there are more documentaries, than there were players online in it.

• Not to protect so called “toxic environment”, but sometimes people need to hear what others think about them and their work, preferably without pink glasses. Hiding truth behind fake polite smile is not correct approach either.

  As an example, Linus once harshly commented about breaking user space. Was it impolite to mog developer? Maybe. But nowadays in our “polite circle with pink ponies” people more easily do what they not supposed to, cause there no harsh feedback. My amdgpu crashing and taking full video stack with it each focking time. It can’t restart even if you trigger /sys/kernel/debug, like, it’s dead-dead. And that due to user space program, aka game. This shit should’t happen and yet here we are. Could it be different if Linus kept yelling at people, to reinforce fear of breaking stuff? My money on “yes”. There other examples of course, like compete disaster called “Concord”, where ultra polite environment became so forced that it kinda became toxic thing on itself and we all know the end result of it.

  So yea, not a fan of that.

• I need to point out that in this case most probably will be installed snap/flatpack package (unless you mean some UI for native package manager), which is a sandboxed package and can/will have issues with things like file access.

• Honestly, still true to some degree: riding alone == consuming more fuel per person == financing petrol economy == financing such nazi places like russia and saudi arabia (not including america here due to my personal opinion, but they are 3rd in “top petrol exporters”, do with this info whatever you want)

  So like, it’s not as direct as it was back then when USA was at war, but still works.

• Same. But more than that - I noticed that my 7700x is a huge bottleneck: desktop CPUs limited to just 2 channels, plus controller in 7700 is kinda meh, so I can’t force anything above 5600mt\s with my 4 sticks. Switching to new CPU should allow to increase speed, but will still lock me to 2 channels. So I should’ve bought cheapest threadripper instead, which allows 4 or 8 channels instead.

• I still wish I had a better GPU

  My 7900xtx was a rollercoaster of emotions all the way till now, so I decided to buy nvidia even tho I don’t support them as a company in the slightest (nor do I support amd at this point, considering they dipped in same AI bubble as soon as they had the chance).

  So yeah, “I will just buy next top-tier gpu as soon as it arrives” was looking like this for past couple of years:
