Ding ding ding. Same reason most horrors take place in the early 2000 or before. Modern tech killed horror - we are constantly connected and tech is somewhat infallible.

Also, about batteries - sometimes aluminium foil IIRC folded a few times and inserted beneath the battery worked.

Most compamies in my country will also have beef with you over that and I’m european. It’s more american thing with chargebacks IIRC. Most of folk here simply contact customer service/support and talk things out, more often than not getting a refund.
