The problem with capitalism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money.

I’m honestly surprised he did that. If I was him I would not trust the state to uphold its end of the plea bargain. I’d much rather take my chances with a jury.

As a member of the working class, I don’t particularly mind if a socialist country reaps the rewards of my work. Also, it’s not like IP is a zero-sum game, and that an idea put into use in one place means it can’t be put into use in another. It’s like ancient Babylon getting mad at Sumeria for putting seeds into the ground.

The concept of IP is theft to begin with. No technology arises from a vacuum, it is all built on the collective efforts of humanity through the ages. The fact that some billionaire can claim ownership over an idea is a moral failing of capitalism.

Consider how rapidly they have been built, and the capitalists’ plans to make many many more. Now also consider the state of the planet’s ecology and the already terrible effects of climate change.
To me, it’s incomprehensible that regular people haven’t already revolted against the death spiral the capitalist class has put us on.

on In a universe of enshitification, Linux is one of the few things that consistently gets better. in c/linuxmemes@lemmy.world · 12 Aug 2026
Enshittification is a function of capitalism, not popularity. Unless every Linux distro gets paywalled, there is no profit incentive that would drive Linux to enshittification. The kinds of people who currently work on it for no pay will continue to work on it.
The United States and its most powerful corporations now fully and openly embrace fascism. Revolution is our only hope now, there is no one coming to save us but ourselves. Join your local socialist group and start training now. Don’t wait for the mass arrests to begin.
