This is my feelings exactly. I don’t believe in the doomsday sky net horseshit that the AI companies/whistleblowers are peddling, but taking a strong stance against AI right now is incredibly based. Use the flimsy arguments of AI tech bros to hold them to account.

Google deciding to continue using a dataset that has been completely captured by a megalomaniac at the head of an authoritarian regime is on them. I cannot stress enough that they do not have to use GNIS, as evidenced by all the other map apps that, y’know, don’t.

Trump is not a king, and outside of the executive branch, his executive orders have no binding power.
Google et. al. Are, last I checked, not part of the executive branch, and are under no obligation to abide by Trump renaming bodies of water.
They’re doing it because they want to. Because they know it will make Trump happy.

Okay, but explain how consumer preferences are somehow Steam’s fault?
If you told me it was that way because Steam was boosting AAA games and suppressing indie titles, then okay, you have a valid reason to criticize Steam for that, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Bet. Pirates will find a way to get around whatever draconian anti-consumer shit they come up with.
I kinda feel the same way about Diablo-style games. I’m only ever encouraged to play by people who have put so much time into it that they can’t appreciate the gameplay loops or the story anymore and only want to rush to max level and do the same loot runs over and over again.
If I play by myself, I can kind of see the appeal, but I’m playing “sub-optimally” and wasting a bunch of time. Eventually, I will have to fall in and keep up or just be satisfied playing alone.
