• Yes, the private key never leaves your machine.

  You send them a certificate signing request with your public key, they put their verification stamp on it and send it to you.

  The only part they have to play is verifying that your certificate is trusted by a root certificate.

• Hahaha, that sounds like a painful experience, I spent a few years building Apple build systems for mobile games and I hated every minute of it.

  Ive heard a few people say “just get a mac mini and run your llm there”, and I immediately nope out.

  It sounds like you’re learning shit from it all, even if you’re bullshitting your way through it, some of this random knowledge will help you out later on in life.

  I used to be a MS sys admin for the first 10 years of my career and I have I think 10 certs, so I guess? I don’t really consider myself much of a windows anything since moving to cloud based sys eng and devops roles. I’m not sure what that makes me?   Works pretty fucking amazing for me and I plan on replacing my side monitors with 4k ones too because they feel too cramped.

  

  Edit: shit, I just checked, I had the browser at 90%, sorry, I do swap around between the 1080 and 4k all the time so I adjust as I move across and 80% is at times too small on the 4k.

• I agree with a lot of what you say, especially being forced into an “evidence” based system, I was like, who’s evidence? Because I can surface studies that show things you don’t support work, but anyway.

  Ive gotten help from a talk therapist, she saved my life, but according to the healthcare system where I live now, there’s no evidence it helps and I can go fuck myself.

• Eh, okay dude, sure thing, I usually have my browser set by default to 80% zoom on lower res screens and my font is quite small on the 4k, I also disable any kind of scaling.

  Believe it or not, not everyone sees the world like you do.

  It sounds like you made up your mind though, which is cool for you I guess.

  I appreciate advances in tech, especially stuff like display tech, you kind of remind me of my dad the time he told us we’d never need a hard drive bigger than 2gb, lol.

  I’ll also add that anti aliasing is not as important nowadays because realistically, it was a way to hide lower resolutions by smoothing edges, now edges can be smooth at native resolutions without it. (there’s nuance to that ofc) I’m not sure if you hated AA too.
