Nah see my other comment. You don’t own shit on Steam. In fact the agreement specifically says you may need to use the client and be connected to the Internet in order to even play your games. Like if steam shut down tomorrow and just stopped existing it’s very possible they could legally just give you the middle finger and say sucks for you.
IANAL and there’s more to it than just the contract you have with Valve as far as the law goes but the way the contract is written you have no ownership of anything on the platform.

The Sony policy is much more shady.

There’s a lot more in the agreement but this is the start of the licensing part.
Valve hereby grants, and you accept, a non-exclusive license and right, to use the Content and Services for your personal, non-commercial use (except where commercial use is expressly allowed herein or in the applicable Subscription Terms). This license ends upon termination of (a) this Agreement or (b) a Subscription that includes the license. The Content and Services are licensed, not sold. Your license confers no title or ownership in the Content and Services. To make use of the Content and Services, you must have a Steam Account and you may be required to be running the Steam client and maintaining a connection to the Internet.

I get it. There’s a lot of propaganda out there (that goes both ways) about China.
For better or worse they’re going to lead the charge into the 2100s, this is the dawn of the new Chinese century and the USA is busy handing them the reins as we implode our country.
I think China is a little friendlier overall in their foreign relations and while freedom of expression is important I would not say their society as a whole is better or worse than all the rest of the world. It feels like sometimes, from what I’ve heard and seen, China is “more” free in certain aspects compared to the USA (and definitely less free in others)

I’m not the commenter you replied to but I read their view more along these lines. That no large online video provider gives a good experience and while this is more competition for YouTube it’s kind of like comparing two piles of shit - both stink.
Which idk never used it but yeah China has its own brand of suck compared with the West. Still, I agree it’d be good to have more cultural exchange - that’s the sort of thing that over time leads to better relations between nation states and decreases the likelihood of war.
You know the older I get, the lesson of “there are no good guys” really keeps getting hammered home. This is just a reminder of that.

I still kinda long for and mourn the childhood and teenage years of the person I wish that I had been but wasn’t.
I think every single human on the planet feels that way. Suppose it’s just part of growing up, the eternal trap we exist in where we know of the past and future but can only live in the present even in our minds.
I feel like I could have been a better person too, I was kind of an asshole with a short temper - maybe I still am an asshole - but the important thing is trying to improve. It’s good you’re working towards that, I’m still trying too. Besides, I think it’d be a real bummer if we couldn’t try to improve ourselves, so hopefully humans as a whole can keep marching towards a better future.

Nothing. The default market hegemony is fucked.
Honestly, I think you could call almost all of our organs the “source of life” using that barometer. Not to say you’re wrong, just that it’s kind of crazy how many things have to keep on keeping on inside of us to simply do the bare minimum of staying alive.
