Accounting is a big problem.
And you can say it was jewelry for your girlfriend - but realistically it could have been literally anything else. I’m not saying illegal dugs - but it sounds really shady and it puts the responsibility on the company.
With prior communication it might had been okay with your boss, or he would have lent you his personal card for this. -

I’m wanting to say I like this idea, but…
It just freaking sux. There are good cops out there who don’t need to be pumped into one insurance ideology (fraud) - but til the bad cops get the punishment they deserve there is no good solution.This is a general problem with the whole system - including unaffordable healthcare. If healthcare would be free; freakton of lawsuits wouldn’t happen.
Without those lawsuits the insurance would go down, lawyers would not clog up the system with ‘got hurt in an accident’ cases - and this would reflect all parts of society.
I believe the cops not getting punished for being bad is just one of the hundred symptoms of the system failing. -

I don’t disagree but I don’t like this article.
Internet is just human.
You see the negativity and the loudest people and keep forgetting about the silent majority.Open source projects, people organizing events/ charities, communities geeking out over the same stuff, Wikipedia - basically all the human knowledge is at your fingerprints.
Scammers, abusers, margin groups, hate groups - they are all there. It is just so much easier to see the negative parts.

No, I agree with you. Llms are not for this. And we can be both thankful and disappointed at the sme time about it :). AGI will be abterror to see. Not in a sense of how they will kill us, but in a sense of how fast big corpo will.

I don’t understand the second part of your comment.
If you want to make something better you think insulting others will do it?A ‘new’ protocol that won’t have much chance to be inseminated into the general population just means those projects will separate the idealist groups into smaller groups. Who would probably have more chance working together against the big system.

It feels like the good old Ivory Tower. “The let’s lock ourselves in!” mentality never worked in changing the world for a beter place.
I’m not saying having principles and standing against slop/spyware/privacy nightmare is bad. But it feels a bit off to me.

People keep forgetting the subscription based seat heating/cooling in BMWs.
You have the hardware but you didn’t pay for the subscription so you can’t use it.So after that I don’t know why people are so surprised by the “we-are-going to-do-it-only-once-for-this-special-movie-we-pinkie-promise-never-again” event.
How in the heck did it take this long for them to figure this out?
School uniforms are great, but forcing freaking skirts on girls is absurd. Or even the opposite way: go boys! Skirts can be amazing - as long you don’t have to wear it!
Edit: I was forced to wear skirts in kindergarten - my poor mother… - but that was over 35 years ago! (And the school let me wear jeans)
