Absolutely, that monitor isn’t even plugged in. (No, seriously, look at it!)

on Flashlights IRL vs flashlights in games [meme] in c/gaming@lemmy.world · 17 Sep 2026
Meanwhile, shotguns in games are all over the place. They have a range of like 30 feet, at 31 they are garbage. Meanwhile, irl, buckshot remains effective at 90-150ft.
However, body armor is very effective at stopping buckshot IRL (necessitating aiming at unarmored parts), but seems irrelevant in games.

It’s clearly one of those shake flashlights that only have a capacitor.

I only use it to solve specific problems when I can’t find the solution elsewhere. Then I spend the time to understand and rewrite the code myself.
It’s the same workflow as using Stack Overflow, etc. You can’t just copy/paste solutions.

That’s unironically a good idea if you are just getting into it. The trades pay very well and are in high demand.

on US to announce sharply lower vehicle fuel economy requirements in c/technology@lemmy.world · 2 Sep 2026
And here I am hoping they are finally killing the fuel economy requirement that killed small trucks.
From the article, it doesn’t sound like that is the case, though.

Holy crap, yay!
Always liked using this program as it has just enough tools to be useful, including addons, but not overbearing for moderate image work.
Edit: A note for the group:
It is NOT “production ready.” I wouldn’t even call it “alpha quality”. It “doesn’t not” work.

Sounds like a great item to return to the store for a full refund. Manufactures just love returned products, completely destroys the profit on the next several sales.

on Radiation link in flight attendant's breast cancer, French court finds in c/europe@feddit.org · 26 Aug 2026
Makes sense. Flying above most of the atmosphere’s protection results in the highest radiation exposure most will ever have (outside of a medical setting, like an xray). Not a big deal if you use jets for vacation, but if it is your daily job, it adds up.

This used to be the case, which is probably why you thought that. They improved the feature a few years ago.

And if family member x plays one of my games, I cannot play a game or else they’d get kicked.
If you are doing Steam Family Sharing, then the only limit is that you both cannot play the same game at the same time. You can play different games at the same time, even if they are both from your account.
I use the feature all the time, it is great. Convinced my SO to buy a few games already as they tried it from my account, liked it, then bought their own copy so we could play it together.

It really isn’t helpful when you just make shit up. Undermines any point you were trying to make.

It’s also just the fact that some games are better than others. For every Factorio and Hollow Knight, there are a hundred other games that aren’t as good that significantly less people buy.

on Kansas Schools Now Collect Phones at the Door – Spends $180K On Smartphone Lockers in c/technology@lemmy.world · 17 Aug 2026
100% behind phone lockers, but, I do agree the price seems too high for this specific implementation. Looks like those hold ~250 phones each and I’m going to guess should cost $500-$1,000 per locker. A school should only be spending $5k-50k on these lockers.

on California just passed a law forcing mandatory DRM in 3D printers in c/technology@lemmy.world · 17 Aug 2026
Yep. Someone safely using their gun and teaching others how to safely use theirs can easily go through thousands of rounds in a pretty short time period. Someone murdering with one only needs a few rounds ever. Restricting ammo sale quantity only hurts safe and legal users.

on Woman Calls Out Doctor Wearing Smart Glasses During Consultation Where She Had To Take Off Her Clothes: 'They Need To Be Banned' in c/technology@lemmy.world · 12 Aug 2026
If a doctor points their personal smartphone camera at a patient during an exam, as the doctor in the OP did with their camera, that is a massive issue. Why are you defending blatant violations?
With how strong AA and Indy game studios are, I’m not worried. Good riddance to the AAA studios sucking up oxygen.
