Yeah that’s fair. Personally, I live in a really small space so steam deck and phone are my only devices. Don’t think I’d feel comfortable with a TV that reported back on me - but TBF I do have a phone which I’m sure is doing that anyway!

Right. When the fuck did a TV start needing a microphone?
I’m old enough that I remember our first remote control TV. The remote was on a cable. It’s incredible and wonderful to me how far and how fast tech has come - but some stuff is just going too far. You don’t need to talk to your TV. Same with smart fridges - WTF? I dunno, maybe I’m just showing my age. But this unnecessary complexity adds insecurity and more stuff to go wrong.

This is why companies should be worker owned cooperatives. Yes, management is a useful skill, and the workers can hire it.
Wishful thinking I know, but so much more sustainable.

If AI ever reaches the point that it can produce a creative, fun game that feels worth playing - which I doubt, because you gotta have a soul to make art - then anyone can press that button. Why would people buy their game when they can get AI to make their own?

TBF we already have hugely invasive surveillance, at least here in the UK. Successive governments have cut policing and invested in cameras instead. It hasn’t made us safer, but we kind of got boiled-frogged into living in a panopticon. There was a bit of negative publicity recently about use of facial recognition at choke-points like major public transport hubs - but it never really went anywhere. Make people feel scared and they will give up their rights for the illusion of security.
I’m playing baldur’s gate 3 and loving it. Wasn’t that AAA? I’m planning to try the game of the year winners and nominees for the past few years - I haven’t much gaming experience, but if a lot of ppl think they’re good, that’s a recommendation to me. I think they’re not all AAA productions though. The only problem I see with AAA games is the expense - but I can wait for steam sales. But yeah, in thinking to play tactical breach wizards next, looks great.
