• another point. the ‘diversity’ in the system is running the model 10k times within the same model, that’s like saying you have a brain trust of 10k experts, except it’s just 10k copies of Gary. they seriously lack creative skills and abstract thought processes because they’re a very complex monoculture with no diversity in the models. and the reason that don’t have 10k unique models running is because that would be incredibly complicated and time consuming and this is a product to sell, not a need being filled.

• you’re assigning human traits to a computer program that is a language model that’s not actually meeting the standards of artificial intelligence, it’s a reward based system, you say ‘what is the best build for a raiper weapon in Dark Souls’, and it looks up faqs and spits out the language it expects you’re looking for. it doesn’t think and if it finds 12 joke posts on reddit saying something totally contradictory to how anyone would play the game, then it will give you the joke advice with no sense that that’s terrible. if the military is asking it how to deal with their rival military is going to look at those key words and gather language to repeat back and if that language it find is biased, prejudice, hostile, incredibly out of date, well, it’s not Intelligence, it doesn’t think or understand anything, it’s finding language, it’s giving you that language back. and if it’s looking at military documents to find that language, it’s going to see bias and prejudice and hostility and a desire to engage in war for profit and it’s going to regurgitate that back to them. it’s horrifying the military is allowing a language model that’s repeatedly been proven to magnify existing bias and prejudice if finds when looking for an answer is being allowed to process anything and is anywhere near the decision making process.

• War Games was a computer planning planet destroying nuke attacks because it was taught to play chess and not tic tac toe. it needed to learn about pointless victory. This is a bunch of jackasses in a room buying a thinky box asking it questions and taking the answers seriously enough to go to war relieving themselves of the burden of thought and common sense. this isn’t War Games, it’s a classic Star Trek episode except Kirk never shows up to teach us that you can’t let a fucking computer program run your fucking military intelligence, because that’s INSANE. Why would you do that? you need multiple human eyes on everything going on, you can’t let a fucking language model do it for you… my god… it’s children doing their homework with AI, except their homework is the apparatus that used to enforce the rule of law on a global scale. granted, that was always a lie as it’s more the gun that enforced colonial interests, but still. a gun that decides it need to start shooting random people who could win a war against us depending on the lines drawn and the time frame is a pretty dangerous thing to let go.

• it’s how people are choosing to use it, it’s more stealthly that most people think, they aren’t THAT obvious, they really need some kind of very clear ‘this is a recording camera’ tell that can’t be turned off, no one who wants to do legit things with it would care. like how you can’t mute shutter sounds on phones sold in Japan.

• the focus these days in very much on gender identity and that’s not where bisexual identity stemmed from, it was about being attracted to both sexual body characteristics, and that’s outside gender, and people who have multiple sexual characteristics aren’t excluded from bisexuality in terms of being bisexual or being attractive to bisexual people, people now here bisexual and think it’s related to binary gender constructs. it’s not. it was never about that. and a lot of older bisexual people have also been against binary gender constructs and certainly conformity and insistence on conformity to binary gender constructs for a long long time.

• mostly that the kids these days started saying pansexual to talk about how they experience their sexuality, and I didn’t hear about that until I was in my 30s, and I’ve been aware I’m bisexual since the 90s, so I’m bisexual, and I’m here for people who say they’re pan and I’m happy to listen to them explain their own experience with their sexuality and talk about it with any terms they want, I’m all for people using their own terms and language however they choose, what pan means I couldn’t really say without talking to more people who use the term.

  attracted to the sexual characteristics of men and women, why would that stop me from being attracted to someone that has any permutation of either sex characteristics in expression or configuration? and gender doesn’t even enter into it of you want to be that technical, but again, gender being a construct, why would it bother me, a person attracted to many characteristics of gender expression be not attracted to someone who expresses a configuration of gender characteristics that mix and match or invent their own? that makes no sense. don’t tell me how I experience my sexuality.

• I don’t experience my sexual orientation through the strict dictionary defintions of root words in the English language. I don’t know why you think I would. I don’t. I’m not anti Trans. I’m attracted to plenty of Trans people, fem men, masc women, and plenty of gender non confotming or queer people, being attracted to people who are 1. same as me and 2. not same as me is also a binary. but bi generally meaning experiencing both same sex attraction and opposite sex attraction doesn’t mean I can’t be attracted to a man that expresses generally female traits or sexual characteristics intentionally, I don’t even know how it’s hard to figure out that gender non conforming people would be as or more attractive to someone attracted to sexual characteristics of all permutations. Please. don’t tell Bi people how they must experience their own sexuality based on the dictionary. It’s very belittling and can only lead to misunderstandings and harm. if you want to be a real technical asshole about it, I’m attracted to the sexual characteristics of male and female bodies and I’m not concerned about those characteristics matching any ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ standard created by society or anyone other than the person who is expressing and existing in their desired state. You don’t need to put anti Trans or anti gender queer sentiment on my sexual orientation, that makes no sense. I deeply love and respect and care for my Trans family members, friends, and fellow human beings.

• I’m not interested in binary gender conformity and gender conformity is NOT a part of how I experience my sexuality as a bisexual person, and I’ve never met a bisexual person who’s claimed this is a part of their experience, I’m in my 40s, male, and spent a long time repressing my sexuality for everyone else’s supposed comfort or benifit, and of course my supposed safety as growing up we were all told any variety of non cishet behavior would get us all killed and many followed through with that threat. I’m very much against anyone being told they need to fit any kind of construct of sexual or gender expression based on anything other that however they choose. and a lot of Bi people will get really put out of you place anti-trans bullshit on them. I’m PARTICULARLY attracted to people who DON’T confirm to gender demands of society and the binary gender construct is crazy harmful to so many people I deeply love and care about and will fight for and do what I can to protect. I’d really recommend not putting this supposed definition of bisexuality out, it’s very contradictory to every bi person I’ve ever known’s stated experience.

• it’s really easy to make 60% of your population commit a felony. you just continue to pass laws with the assumption that draconian punishments deter crime. and you keep making lesser and lesser crimes felonies, and punishments harsher, and you can have judges who just want to funnel people into prison to fund their own personal investments. it also helps to have corrupt cops that want to make those felony collars to get promotions and raises. cops literally train each other to escalate things to felonies or find felony charges where clearly none should exist like calling a box cutter a ‘gravity knife’ and charging a felony and if that person isn’t hiring a quality lawyer the public defender with 600 cases says ‘you have 15 min of my time for this case, I glanced at it, I recommend you take a plea deal, our time is up, what’s your decision?’

• Americans are INSANE about how much the want criminals punished, in CA a guy got a life sentence for stealing a pizza when we tried to have a ‘‘three strikes your out’’ law that automatically gave life sentences at any third conviction which is fucking crazy in a state with tack on laws to the point you can get convicted of 10+ crimes on almost every single infraction, if you commit a felony with a pen or pencil in your pocket, that’s possession of a lethal weapon! it’s absurd. it’s still on the books the three strikes law, but it’s unenforceable because apparently having 60% of your population in prison for life is not a great plan for a civilization.

• yeah it’s not a great idea, I’ve been seeing a crap ton of AI ads for relatively bland services online, like insurance and weight loss, some known brands mixed in, and I keep thinking, what does this benifit the company other than not paying someone more than the AI to make an ad, and I feel it mostly just let’s less legitimate business look more sleek, but the bounce back from that is going to be people associating AI ads with garbage and scam businesses, which is plush the bigger corporations away from it. Anyway, yeah it’s all to try and get the user of the AI service to look more polished in intent.

Worf hated it. totally dead planet full of automatic weapons that kill anything that moves and they were technological advanced beyond their ability to detect them because the previous inhabitants furthered warfare tech to the point of absurdity without ever becoming a spacefaring people and killed themselves.
