• Yeah, I feel like past 35 it’s harder to keep up with trending vernacular. I just try my best to be respectful. I think the autism has kinda trained me to use gender neutral pronouns and to avoid assuming sexual orientation anyways. I’ve always had a hard time distinguishing gender unless it’s blatantly obvious someone is presenting as masculine or feminine.

• For instance, I’m finsexual, which is a subcategory of bisexual because it describes specific gender elements that I am attracted to but is not a sub category of pansexual as a result.

  I don’t know why but this is making me feel my age. I feel like I mentally just patted down different pockets across my mind like an old man, looking for a pamphlet or flow chart that I know I don’t have but desperately need.

  The autism is compelling me to make a laminated pocket sized booklet with an updated chart of all gender, sexual orientation, and flag colors. But I also feel being spotted in public using the LGBTQ Pokedex might be faux pas?

• why NPR? why all that work just to get into NPR? they’re not prestigious at all. they’re the chronically underfunded local news source.

  NPR is just a single example of a larger problem that was pertinent as we were talking about ari Shapiro. NPR is one of the most prestigious and most listened to national news network on the radio.

  i’ve never heard of Leonard D. Shapiro before. it sounds like he’s just an average computer scientist who actually did research. being “professor emeritus of computer science at Portland State University” is not a brag; i don’t see “influential” at all. it looks like his article was only created by somebody searching up things about Ari Shapiro.

  Just because you haven’t heard of him does not mean he’s not an influential figure in his field “Shapiro’s research has significantly impacted database systems, particularly in the areas of query processing, optimization, and main memory databases. His work spans computer science, economics, statistics, and mathematics.”

  Any distinguished longtime professor at a major university has a lot of influence in certain circles.

  1. i just searched up probably the biggest NPR journalist, Nell Greenfieldboyce, and she’s got absolutely nothing mentioned in parentage.

  Nell Greenfieldboyce is by no means one of the more recognizable figures at npr… She’s the science correspondence. My point is that the news media hires mostly blue blood Harvard or Yale graduates who rarely live lives familiar to the average American. No one else can afford to take the unpaid internships that all of these institutions utilize.

• He is the son of an influential computer scientist, so it wouldn’t be that surprising. The problem with most news institutions is that they are walled gardens, where the only people who get to pursue a career at some place like NPR is if their parents are loaded or very connected in high society.

  If you look up your average npr employee with any name recognition, there’s like a 90% chance their parents have blue links on Wikipedia, and about half the time they worked for NPR.

  Nepotism is so common in news, it’s no wonder why they have a hard time connecting with everyday Americans.

  Replicating American right wing extremism in Europe is more dangerous to NATO than any kind of actual invasion. Having the adf take off the same way maga did in the US would be devastating to NATO.

• Over the last decade or so the growth in capacity has mostly been focused on Electric vehicles. Small electronics have definitely grown, but at a modest pace that hasn’t really kept up with new hardware’s ability to drain it.

  An iPhone from 2016 had about 2k mah and a iPhone 16 has around 3.5k mah.

  Which is why I specified a lot of technologies, and not all technology? We are certainly making some advances, but like I said it doesn’t seem to be at the pace we experienced in previous decades.

  Take batteries. We have them for 160 years, and we thought they were a solved problem, but currently they make new jumps, and still ongoing

  I don’t think anyone ever claimed batteries were a solved problem… We are making progress with them, but again, it’s been a pretty slow development over the last decade.

  Therefore I say it’s his personal feelings that are having this certain cycle.

  Or maybe you just lack perspective due to your age? Is there any particular technology that’s come out in the last 5-10 years that you consider groundbreaking? The only thing I can think of is LLM, and to be honest I’m not very impressed with them considering the societal cost.

• That’s not what I got from the article, though I might be from a similar age bracket as the author.

  It does seem that we have hit diminishing returns when it comes to a lot of technologies. For example there really hasn’t been a significant change in the experience or utility of my phone in the last 10 years or so.

  Compare that from phones that came out from 2005 to 2015 and you’ll kinda get what they are saying. We went from Nokia bricks, razors, BlackBerry, and then iphones all within a couple years.

  When I was younger the general assumption was that we would be continuing to progress at the same rapid pace as we did when transitioning from analog to digital. Instead, we get more memory and processing but there’s not much difference in experience because it gets neutralized by bigger and clunkier apps that don’t care about optimization.

  I haven’t even been critical of your sexual inclusivity, nor would I want to do anything to your relationships? I don’t even think the state should really be involved in how we organize our relationships. Short of that happening, I think the state should expand legal benefits/protections to anyone who wants them.

  Not my laws? Nor have I defended all aspects of marriage law in general?

  By suing you. Do you believe the state itself cannot sue, and is an inactive participant in domineering these laws?

  For one, any examples of the state suing a person for not getting married because they did not want to enter a monogamist relationship? Secondly, even if there were examples… I am not defending the actions of the state.

  Just because I’ve claimed that I do not have a problem with two consenting adults agreeing to a monogamist marriage, does not mean I agree with all aspects of marriage law, or that I agree with all actions committed by the state.

  I think that is a false dichotomy. You can believe child marriage should not exist while also believing that gold digging is not a significant issue.

  Otherwise the state wouldn’t even consider marriage as component of their litigation, whatsoever.

  How would the state open litigation if you did not agree to get married?

  Again, I never made the argument that shame culture wasn’t widely prevalent, influential, or good.

  I gave 4 examples already, on how to liberally praxis liberal sexual autonomy, and still deal with a dishonest individual. I am not sure how I can make it more boomer literate for you. May I also suggest you research modern day sexual liberation research on your own?

• It is sexual oppression to demand others exclusive sexual rights to a parner, and use law and state force to dominate it.

  Imo oppression implies a lack of consent. I don’t see oppression happening when two people consent to enter a legal agreement based on mutual monogamy. I would feel less okay if you were not allowed to break that contract at any point, or if the penalties for breaking the contract were unknown or unusually extreme. Or even if there were no ways to legally modify the contract to include consentual exceptions before entering the agreement.

  How are you confused about consentual liberated sexual societies? My definition is quite anarchist.

  In your last comment it seemed to imply that we were already in a liberated sexual society, which seemed to be untrue by your terms.

  Then “gold digger” would not be a term, esp. in family & divorce litigation. Please update your thoughts on current year matrimony incentives.

  I don’t think there are a significant amount of gold diggers out there. That seems to be more of a concept that is amplified by the patriarchal aspects of social hierarchy. Plus there are prenuptial agreements that both parties could consent to if they were really that worried. I think a more legitimate concern when it comes to marriage finances is how a lot of labour that women conduct in the relationship isn’t financially recognized.

  parents still sell children to marriage against their consent. So I urge you to remove this “thought” from your mind.

  I have been predicating all of my arguments based on consenting adults, and children cannot consent. I think we can all agree no one was arguing in favor of child marriage, and you just inserted a fairly large strawman argument.

  Is the wife domineering over the husband by divorcing him? Wouldn’t that just allow him to be sexually liberated to sleep with whom he wants?

  What is the alternative in this scenario? For the man to continue being sexually liberal and force his wife to either adopt his views or be in a relationship structure she does not consent too?

• Doesn’t really matter what you use as long as you aren’t utilizing any protected health information (hpi). If you are using information that can identify a patient then you need to be using an approved encrypted device. Generally providers tend to avoid utilizing that type of information just out of habit.

  You don’t really discuss patient information or their care with anyone over mobile devices. If you need input from someone directly concerning patient care you tend to do it over EMR so your colleagues have context about who you’re talking about.

• I mean as long as they aren’t sending protected health information it really isn’t a HIPAA violation. We use an encrypted pager at my clinic, but that’s just because the hospitals guidelines are stricter than HIPAAs. For what we and most providers still use pagers for nowadays could be done over an unencrypted network. Most of the time it’s just to call us to a certain room number. It’s not like people really have the patience to type out words using two buttons at more.

  Wouldn’t stop using SMS instead of their pagers for what? My office still has pagers, but that’s mainly because we’re in the hospital’s basement and don’t have very good reception.

  The rest of the hospital generally works off of sms for messaging when a patient is roomed, or for being on call. I don’t know how you could break hipaa using a sms in place of a pager.

• Kinda how I felt about a lot of social stuff growing up. I didn’t end up getting diagnosed with autism until I was in my 30s. I played football in highschool and just remember feeling really alienated during huddles.

  There were kids shaking and almost foaming at the mouth with excitement and I was just standing in the circle thinking “huh the guys are really excited, man blake is really invested in this game”, “I don’t think I’ve ever had so much fun I’ve gotten angry about it?”
