I just see no way in which the injection of AI into an already crumbling education results in anything resembling “good outcomes”.
You gotta learn to think. It takes time and effort and dedicated practice. And you need space, time and an environment for that.
As bad as this is for grown adults, it seems orders of magnitude worse for kids/ young adults.

I mean you can do something’s like not allowing it’s use on campus.
I guess I’m seeing it as just a critical period of mental development as the years before. Its probably the thing that has me the most worried about the whole thing is the drop in any kind of thinking skills among the general population.

Yeah it doesn’t matter what you say, it matters what you do. People say one thing and do another all the time, and you are doing that right here.
You aren’t doing what you say. You are doing this other thing, literally just accepting the slop that fascist media is shoving down the slop tubes like any other hog. Fox news and right wing corporate media have spent billions to get you, yes you to repeat their lines for them. And you ate it up like a lil’ piggy. You doing the fascists work for them.
So if you want people to evaluate you differently, do different things.

I think if a company is going to be successful at using this framework for anything, its going to be a company that started that way. Trying to like, retool a ship like Facebook (yes, I’ll always deadname them) when its the behemouth that it is…
It would seem far more sensible to me for these companies to have curated a crop of small companies to experiment and fail with what works and what doesn’t where things can be automated, then buy up and replace components as they went along. It would just match their track record better.
I guess they figure they are in the end game for implementing global authoritarian fascism anyways.

To me its more about the algorithm. I want to listen to my music, not listen to someone talk to me about my music, and the algorithm CAN NOT tell the two apart. My critique should really be with YT.

Mostly time. I didn’t buy the machine to run someone else’s models. I bought it to run my own models and the machine has a job to do. Tinkering with self hosting llms, I guess. I appreciate them as models. But my machine has a day job.

Yeah I can run any open weight models which leave me enough vram to not crash. But its a bit of a gotcha because you also need enough system ram to load the model. I use it to heavily parallelize training tasks… Honestly, I need to tinker with it more but I’m pretty annoyed at how ollama has gone deep in the paint as basically being a tool for accessing cloud models.

Yeah I do a ton of machine learning research and like, distance between the database and the place I’m doing the processing really matters. My NAS is on the other side of my house and it would be great to have maybe two NAS, a primary one for like, my movies, personal files, old projects etc, and then this one right next to it for active projects.
Right now I’m having to do it all on my primary machine, which means I often have to freeze updates for long periods of time once I get a particular compute configuration set up for a particular project.

Yeah I’ve got the 128 gb Asus one as a processing machine, and honestly, I wish I would have just got it as a server. For my purposes, I need this bad-ass GPU/ CPU much closer to the storage.
Honestly, just a basic 2:1 is fine for me considering I’m rarely if ever running my compute locally.
