Same. Smells like a (fairly generic) co-op shooter to me. It might end up being good, but with the state of blizzard and microsoft these days I’m not really excited for this.

Some people love to have a base they can revisit on a planet they liked. Some also build mining outposts for gold and whatnot. Bases are also useful for inter-galaxy travel.

It is fairly shallow, yes, but it’s also open ended so you can set your own goals. It’s also pretty good for creative types, with building bases and ships and such. I have some 700h in it but spread over a few dozen saves, played during updates over the years, and very few go past the 30h mark. I also haven’t touched some gameplay elements so there’s that. But it’s a great game in shorter batches.

I am in fact blaming Daimler management for this, yes. It was back in 2010 or so that Mercedes-Benz bragged about having a full electric line-up by 2015 so they’ve had 15 full years of head start before the chinese came and started taking their lunch. What did they do in the meantime? They colluded with VAG and BMW to keep diesels in the mix. And yes, they’ve veen trying to weather a nasty storm recently, but they asked for state support every step of the way ( and received it most often than not, precisely because germany wanted to keep those people employed ). Now I’m not sure how their recent EVs fare, but Daimler has been constantly resistant to change ( going as far as anti-ev propaganda spewed by the CEO making the rounds in right-wing groups ) and that blame lies solely with the company’s management.

Not sure why they’re being upvoted but you’re right. I’ve been using nexus since the skyrim days and it’s always had tiered downloads, account requirement and limited mods/page. Just about the only changes I’ve seen are the “refreshed” layout and the abundance of ads (which I have admittedly used an adblock for)

The game is notorious for having a slow, boring start and it’s a turn-off for many. Not sure why, but white orchard always feels like a slog. It usually clicks ( it might not for you, but it usually does ) 10-ish hours in, once you get deeper into velen/novigrad.

Another next-gen witcher 3 update? Not to look a gift horse in the mouth but the last one was both underperforming and kind of underwhelming. Why not do a witcher 1 next gen? The old goose desperately neets a graphical and/or combat update.

Plenty. I don’t imagine ads cover the huge cost of hosting video in this day and age, especially with all the adblockers running around ( saw an ad revenue number in a study a while ago, google supposedly makes between 100s-10000s dollars per person, depending on their “value” ).
I for one am grateful to all the paying subscribers - it means google will more readily tolerate my shiny freeloading adblocking ass.

They’re not exactly hidden these days, but I agree. And they also happen in paid games. Guessing a separate pegi category for all games that offer in game spending, regardless if its outright gambling, season passes or dlc, and for both free and paid games. They should not be allowed to tug at your strings, at least in-game.

Is there a recommended order to these games? I started Control and it just throws words at me like I’m supposed to know. Combat is decent tho, and while I hate navigating it, the old house has fantastic architecture

The problems are a bit blown out of proportion but the overdue updates is a legit issue with GOG, particularly with early access or newer titles. I feel it’s a shared issue too - there’s definitely some inefficiencies in GOG’s vetting process but I swear some devs are effectively ignoring their GOG version of the game. And not even small teams. Games like robocop sometimes lag behind their steam counterparts. Either way, a nice list to have.

Listened to Schreier’s podcast and indeed, they explicitly avoided giving sales numbers, which to me is a bit strange. However in their earnings call they reported smth like 1 billion in revenue, and, while I wasn’t clear on whether it’s everything or just GTA6, that would still mean people placed anywhere between 5-14 million preorders. I mean to me it’s staggering that so many would preorder a game without seeing a single non-cgi frame, no preorder bonus and no physical release, but to each their own.
