It was 14 years between those games. It’s a good mechanic that deserved to be dusted off. There were a bunch of other Spiderman games between them that didn’t do it. The Insomniac Spiderman had better everything else too, people really forget what that old Spider-Man 2 game was like outside of the swinging mechanics.

HL2’s airboat and vehicle sections weren’t on-rails like this. You could get out and explore at any point with all the mechanics available to you. They even made it into a gigantic wave defense set piece for the final battle at the end of Episode 2.

Seems how? They didn’t say anything like that. You think the issue with this guy is because he’s rich and nothing else?
The funny thing is I’ve seen people saying the exact same thing you are to people laughing at Charlie Kirk getting killed, while doing their best to ignore all the things he stood for, said, and did. Right down to immediately accusing the person of adopting (an incorrect idea of) Nazism by not valuing all lives as precious. Just think about the brainpower behind people who think those laughing at Charlie Kirk are like the Nazis but not Charlie “Civil Rights was a mistake” Kirk.
There’s gotta be a term for people who get all righteous about treating all lives as precious while they ignore that the person in question actively makes the world worse.

They would have recouped faster if they had the foresight to publish the game on PC as well as PlayStation. Kojima Productions made money on Death Stranding pretty quick because the PC sales were very good. Sony only got it from PlayStation sales.

You don’t know what “niche audience” means if you think these two games sold and are played by similar audiences as, say, Anno games.
You’ve also got selection bias twisted considering you’re using it to say a few comments in here must represent the truth because they say something you like.
What you heard about Cyberpunk must be from some real haters because, of all the things you could accuse about its story, boring and unoriginal are not it.
If anything here explains the state of anything, it’s how easily gamers will believe nonsense as long as it fits their preconceived notions and gets their anger up.

YouTube has rapidly censoring more and more by way of demonetization and language policing.
Because Spider-Man was a very popular, well-recived game both critically and commercially, from the same studio.
They had a standard of expectation and didn’t meet it.
