While I’m not the average person, my kids have never known anything but Linux or ChromeOS (because school). They game on SteamOS/Bazzite, they use a Linux laptop at home, and they use Android devices. Everything they use, somewhere inside deep down, is powered by Linux.

There is nothing wrong with using your distro’s app center. Often it will save you extra steps by updating things like Flatpaks as well, if you use them (or Snaps, if you’re an insane person).

They use LetsEncrypt. There is literally a bot you can install to automate the renewal process daily on a cron schedule and notify you if it fails.

That’s not entirely the same thing. It says it catches 89% of HARMFUL actions. That means that 11% of the time it doesn’t.
That’s more like if the corn had a parasite on it that could give you explosive diarrhea 11% of the time. Would you still eat the corn?
Also, in my example, I didn’t say the harmful actions of the pilot resulted in a crash. However, that doesn’t mean it couldn’t. How many of those 11% of the time are the “woops I deleted the production database” stories we hear all the time?

If a pilot of a plane told me that they catch any critical errors they make 89% of the time, I would NOT get on that fucking plane.
How do you figure FreeBSD is influenced by Apple? macOS and iOS don’t use FreeBSD. They use Darwin, which is a BSD fork, but not related to FreeBSD at all AFAIK besides they have some of the userland tools.
