• There’s also all the investment in making using the app addictive with all the little dopamine hits of finding something that might be good every so often at random. So when you do meet someone and you’re bored during the commercials in the from you’re watching, what app would give you a little dopamine hit, yes it’s your favourite dating app, run by the same one company as all the other dating apps.

• I knew a couple of people who studied in continental Europe under the Erasmus scheme before Brexit, and the far right were always claiming during the referendum campaign that the EU would never chuck the UK out of anything because we’re so awesome and they need us and our money so much. Turns out there’s a limit to how much a club misses its most loudly critical influential member.

  So amongst Europhile Brits, Erasmus means young people’s opportunities to study abroad first, and name from history that it honours second. I might not have heard of Erasmus if it weren’t for the Erasmus scheme, and I had to check just now whether he was a historical figure or someone from Greek mythology. Awesome surname for a person in real life to have, though.

• Luna did not reach the decision entirely unprompted. Conversation logs between the lab and Luna show that the agent had created an attendance policy but later lost track of it, allowing the employee’s lateness to continue for months. Andon Labs eventually asked Luna to search her memory for its policies and assess whether the worker was still a good fit.

  Luna agreed that the employee should be let go.

  No, what we’ve seen is the LLM not actually doing the managing, and just agreeing with a human prompting it.

  LLMs are excellent at agreeing with the people promting them.

  I have no idea whether $100k is a sensible budget for starting a store, but they note that it isn’t profitable.
