• Oh yeah, we also have a wall calendar with my wife. But personally I use digital calendar.

  Its not as messy for me, but took time to come up with something that works for me. The three categories are intentional. “Next” are basically simple tasks that can be done at once (but take more than a few mins), added after planning, so that doesn’t really change once they are added (and I just tick what is done). In progress, pretty similar, but longer term tasks (maybe not perfect name for the category). I usually keep a section under the task based on how much I expect sub-tasks or notes. And inbox, well its just add all, plan later list. When something moves to next or in progress or is done immediately I just tick it in inbox. In inbox I have 3 types of tick-boxes. Square ones - if I expect a task to be doable fast without moving it anywhere (in GTD those are the under 2 minutes tasks). Then round one for tasks that need to be added to next. And triangle for tasks that will be longer-term tasks and need to be added to the in-progress section once I decide to do them.

• Not really, I have them home at my desk. When I have something I need to add when I am not home I usually add it to the self-message on Signal which I basically use as inbox for all sorts of ideas anyway.

• I have been looking for a good to-do ecosystem for so long that I ended up with pen and paper. Hear me out. I bought very nice a6 paper notebook and very comfortable ball pen an I just enjoy having this one non-digital, offline thing. After years of not writing with pen and doing most of my life management digitally, having this one thing this way… It’s hard to explain but I enjoy. I even try to write with nice joined-up writing, because it’s not like in school when I had to write a lot fast. No, every to-do is a few words or a sentence and thus I can take time and write nicely. At the beginning of the notebook I have next todos section, in the middle I have in progress long term todos and at the back I have inbox.

• U can use so many better alternatives to backup your photos off site, google is training their ai on your photos. You can use proton drive for example. Or choose a provider for cold storage or something.

• Eithe check out ente.com which is e2e encrypted, open source cloud photo storage with many nice features or look into self-hosting it or Immich.

• I am happy I found this a few month ago too and Prism Launcher is simply good. And installed as flatpak gives you some sandboxing too.

• I just think that if we blow out of proportion every mistake everyone makes we may as well start living in isolation in the woods. I think Proton did a lots of good and still does and they deserve benefit of the doubt. All the dramas are imo just a mistakes or misunderstandings echo-chambered by internet to death (and intentionally fed by competition as well). When you take a moment and look at the pure facts reasonably you will probably come to the same conclusion.

• It looks like it might be vibe coded, atleast thr detailed claude.md file suggests that. It even includes “no Co-Authored-By” clause, which would suggest the author tries to hide how much is actually generated. Personally I wouldnt trust it unless it is audited by someone or by myself - which I wouldn’t do with a ton of generated code…

  Also a side question: are you still using Proton? I thought you said, and I quote, “never again” when there was the last hysteria…
