• AI development has a few factions. People that want to make and fuck their AI daughter/girlfriend. Researchers that want to underatand the basis of the human mind. Capitalists that want to convert human intelligence into capital they can fully own (slavery is the first attempt). Then finally cultists that want to make God in their image.

  It’s a crazy field for someone that is fascinated by thinking about thinking and want to make useful little tools.

• This is the worst of all worlds too me. If it was fair it would be good. As in no intellectual property then sure AI can train on anything but the rest of us can own and create culture freely. Or the opposite extreme every work requires express permission. Want to repost a tweet get permission (not a fan of this myself but honestly still better then the current).

  If it has to be biased then biasing against the ultra wealthy seems obviously better.

• This is way. I mean if you are going to vote otherwise vote third party to help them get that 5% mark for federal funding and better ballot access.

  But honestly we have to choose the most effective strats at all levels. Vote in the primaries Dems for progress or repubs for harm reduction choices. Vote for local politics where shit actually gets done. Vote state level where voting changes and law enforcement actually gets decided. Vote for the best of the two if your state is close, vote third if the worst evil is slated to land slide your state.

  Get support and support mutual aid. Join resistance networks. Support your community and worker coops. Boycott everything that supports evil where you can. Etc etc.

  Honestly it seems like a lot but most of the nations politics don’t fucking matter. Filter for politicians that are on your ballot boxes otherwise they are just idealogues you like to listen too. AOC and John Thune are like 80% relevant for most Americans. They can’t vote for or against them.

  At least for me, pro farmer folk do understand conservation and the important of managing natural resources, again it’s a compromise when it comes to feeding people (yes, we also have to fight against wasteful water practices and choose to grow more sustainable food, but that should not stop momentum where we got it).

• Hey, thank you for taking the time to say something. Yeah, no, I get it. I’m clinging to hope and meaning where I can find it because being boiling with rage but also having mostly slow moving solutions in front of me (boycotts, voting, working with mutual aid groups, supporting the union, shifting to worker or community owed businesses where I can, again voting in those cases, working on a community food forest with others, working with the community bike coop, help arm and train my community and yeah protests and awareness campaigns) has been maddening. None of these can go fast, the food forests is literally at the speed of trees and scrubs to grow. All while, kind of like you said, fucking fascist and old school corruption take root in the festering wound of apathy in our political environment.

  Sometimes it’s just perception too, things seem like they are just in constant friction they something just clicks and people seem to just get it and it starts happening fast. Hell it’s been slow going for me to get past these things being a new thing for me to getting into the habit and just part of my day to day. I don’t want to be patient though and to certain extent we both can’t be and have to be. The genocides and ethic cleansing campaigns for example can’t wait of the food forest, I am at this point harassing people I know about it, I am supporting strikes and boycotts with military I know about it, getting people out of that sector where I can, and hounding people on the up coming elections, doing the call campaigns, supporting the flotillas, etc. it’s not enough it should be more but I’m at a lose myself there.

• I get that more. I’m by no means suggesting rose colored glasses or worse plain ignorance. We do have acknowledge problems and meet the world where it is at. I am just highly opposed to giving up and not take back our symbols and meaning or to throwaway what the people who have fought the good fight because assholes have tried to make it there own too.

  We can acknowledge the real harm alcoholism and it’s leading cause of generational trauma and continued government restrictions on the res but it is not all we are by any stretch of the imagination. In fact the only reason why it can be a problem is because we are still here, and have the full human spirit with us still. That spirit is also why we are still fighting for each other and why it’s worth it. Just like those that came before for those that have still yet to walk with us.

  No doubt Israel and too many US politicians are to blame, but oppression is never stopped by the oppressor its up to us currently with privilege and good consciousness fight with the oppressed…

• Feminism is definitely in defiance of the founding fathers ideals, antislavery and integration of native Americans definitely were and the fucked up things they let or supported against those ideals were criticized and fought against even then. Not that it matters they can suck, MLK and John Brown never talked about defended LGBTQ rights from what I recall either but that isn’t what they fought for.

  Listen we have to fight against the systems of oppression for sure, but imho the reason why our movement isn’t as big as it needs because that’s all people do now, and fighting only against sucks. It’s not just ok, but it’s probably a fucking necessity to fight for something to.
