Well, you could start to generate Hydrogen and replace natural gas, you could run desalination plants and waste treatment with all this “free” energy, just to not waste anything. This would reduce the impact of droughts because you could just use the energy you stored, or don’t need to use energy because you already used it earlier.
As it stands, on sunny days I see 3/5 windmills standing still because the price on the energy bazaar is less than zero, so the utility companies would have to pay. Make it possible for people, facilities and companies to leverage that instead!
Run flywheels, charge batteries, generate hydrogen, desalinate and clean water and pump it up some hills, the possibilities are endless. They’re just not doing it because reasons.

I still think it’s disingenuous. Because this is not significant assistance by an LLM, but rather the human did some assistance where the LLM coded everything.
You can’t even read and understand 10kLOC a day. I have worked as a DevOps engineer where one of my responsibilities was ensuring code quality and I could review maybe 100-1000LOC a day but the days where I read more than about 300 I noticed a significant rise in errors slipping through, and it physically and mentally exhausted me.
I read somewhere professional software devs usually write 17LOC per day on average, while deleting 40-50 and adding 60-70, while reading about 200-300. That’s still a few multiples away from the 11kLOC/d (every day! Including weekends!) in this example.

I made the report and I’m definitely pro AI when it’s used responsibly. Sadly about 95% of AI usage nowadays is irresponsible, unmaintainable, vibe-coded bullshit not even the prompters understand.
I’d like the 95% to be banned and the other 5% to be tagged.

Draw.io is pretty good. It has a desktop version you can download as Flatpak. I even use it at work and got the IT dept. to install it by default. They’re saving hundreds a month due to this.

It’s called “allowlist” and “denylist” nowadays as it’s easier to understand for non-native speakers and not racist.
I feel like there’s an easier and faster way to match IP addresses than regex, e.g. the search tree apparia suggested. At least use bytes to match 😄

Yes. I’m one of those nerds and I sense when I have someone in front of me who doesn’t seem to be. Self hosting is a huge obligation if you’re expected to guarantee uptime to a group of users who personally can hit you in the face.
There’s way cheaper options than librebit. I had a Nextcloud for 10€ a month with 10 users and 100GB or something at some point. My wife paid 5,39€/m for herself with 1TB.

Yeah, talked to their CTO in 2012 when I wrote an article for heise.de (sadly, never released with his statements, only broad summaries) and he basically said the politicians were intentionally crippling support for Linux so that Microsoft IT support looked better. He specifically mentioned the WollMux form system as a failed software project.

If you inspect the generated timer you see the same format in the OnCalendar line.
What do you mean by persisted? The service and timer will both be there as long as the timer doesn’t end. Which it won’t in my example.
If you want to copy it for later reference, you can simply copy the files.

Yes but… Systemd timers are INI-defined tasks and services with unified history and logs, the alerts can be easily added with any alerting system.

Looks good, but kind of superfluous if you just use systemd timers, lol
Systemd timers are the modern way of doing it which gives you everything you coded this tool for, logs and whatnot, in the journal.
And you can run them in a web UI like cockpit aswell.
This might be interesting in a business setting but lacks ACLs and user management in general.
It’s probably also quite easy to hack the system with it if you can inject some malicious scripts.
