I just do it all in my openwrt router now. Set up any DoH (https-dns-proxy) or DoT (stubby) with DNSSEC, plus blocklists with adblock-fast.
Hagezi has some servers with default blocking github.com/hagezi/dns-servers

I was liking NextDNS, they have good features, and I liked not having to maintain blocklist files with shady domains in plain text saved in my hardware, but their jurisdiction and their code being closed source made me reevaluate.

No, not exactly like.
Linux: any distro not implementing age verification becomes illegal
Searx: search engines already implement captchas and ridiculous rate limits.
Fediverse: inconvenient node operators can be categorized as terrorists, like the italian anarchists who were providing web services.
Signal will just buzz off countries implementing backdoors. Until it’s not put next to Encrochat. Same with GrapheneOS.
US already banned routers. Those should be entirely provided by ISPs only at some point.

If you’re gonna use a free one, might aswell. It’s just their barebones service with 3 countries. I don’t see why it would be any different from the paid option within the same company. There’s no different TOS afaik.

The company collects and processes fingerprintable information, including IP address, for “legitimate interests”, whatever those are at any point in time.
This Application may track Users by storing a unique identifier of their device, for analytics purposes or for storing Users’ preferences.
‘Privacy’ is not even mentioned anywhere in the website, not as a feature, not as a consideration or demonstrating awareness.
Except for GDPR this or that. Who cares, just don’t collect data…
No github page, can’t even take a peek at the development.
I’d say not privacy friendly. Would not install. Because while they don’t seem like a data mining operation, they’re still collecting something and there’s risk of database leaks, and privacy is clearly not a focus.
