• OK, following scenario: you forgot to drink the verification can for your heater, but you’re on vacation. So the house gets cold and your goldfish are about to die of cold.

  You dial in your Smart Fish Feeder™ to increase their rations, so that they can build up some fat. But then they’re unhealthy, and your Smart Fish Feeder™ dropped its Wifi connection anyway.

  Instead you dial in your Smart Fridge™ and lower its temperature, so that it functions as a space heater now. Your fish are safe now.

  But now your Smart Lock™ opens for safety reasons, as it misinterprets the sudden rise in temperature as a house fire.

  When you come home your goldfish left to buy some cigarettes but never came home.

  So, a very crucial feature, I’d say.

  Don’t know. When YouTube started, there were creators, but no users and no way to monetize. Problem is, we are so used to the high production value on YouTube, where people can (and more often than not hope to) make money, so we don’t give the poor production value videos a chance anymore. But we watched that 140p video back then, because there was nothing else and it was interesting.

  Is the school obligated to split a class, in order to stay below the limit? Does the kid have to go to a school, where the limit is not reached, but is 3 hours away? Do you concentrate the children, who are too much, in specialized ‘educational camps’? Do these kids just not go to school at all? How do you enforce such a limit?

  Regulate the shit out of large platforms, but leave small entities alone. That’s kind of the “golden rule” for regulation anyways, if you ask me.

• Well, I mean the theory always has been, that Europe helps in the U.S.'s “small adventures” (i.e. shaping the world to their interests), but the U.S. would help out, if Europe is directly threatened.

• No. Firstly, the 25k is for a GmbH, and another comment already said there needs to be “only” 12.5k at the start. Secondly, in theory, you don’t need to put in cash, could be some other value.

  Thirdly, if you need a limited, you can also start an UG, where the base amount is 1€. Your only obligation is that you have to stock up to 25k over the course of time.

  Fourthly, you can also start as non-limited (e.g. GbR or eK or anything else), where there is none of that anyway.

  My personal gripe with starting (and ending) a company (limited) in Germany is this shitty notary system: like those leeches get thousands just for reading back the contracts I wrote myself to me. What is this nonsense? And then, if it doesn’t work out, I need to wait years before I can close shop again?!

• 😅. Okay, story time:

  When StreetView was introduced this dominated public debate in Germany for weeks. It was all the rage, “how dare they to photograph everything?”

  One official even suggested “it’s awesome, police can now patrol the streets from an office chair”, because that is how much of a backwater country Germany is digitally.

  Anyway, people saw immediately all the crime which all the criminal criminals would do with this tool (which tells you something about the state of mind of the “righteous folks”). Anyway, half the country was blurred, because everybody knew about it. And it is the reason, why StreetView is so patchy in Germany (or at least was for the longest time, didn’t check much in recent years) compared to the neighbouring states, 'cause Google pretty much said “Fuck these fucking Germans with their fucking shit”.

  Apple came around some years later with their version, nobody cared anymore 😅

  “deeming necessary” can be anything, really.

  The EU one states

  If a Member State is the victim of armed aggression on its territory, the other Member States shall have towards it an obligation of aid and assistance by all the means in their power

  Having an “obligation” and being obligated to use “all the means in their power” is stronger than the “deeming necessary” of the NATO.
