Yes, there’s no reason you need to carry water for them. These dipshits shouldn’t be able to find a single comment online supporting their behavior. They should feel shitty and worthless about what they’re doing every second of their miserable existence. Companies can make plenty of money without enshittifying every single aspect of our lives.
If you think a system or game is predatory, the solution is simple: stop supporting it. If enough people actually vote with their wallets, companies are forced to change because it hurts their bottom line. Throwing tantrums online doesn’t change basic economic incentives, consumer behavior does
Sure, and I have a lower threshold for it than most but these companies will keep tightening the screws forever because there will always be new people coming in where the current level of bullshit is normal and they can push those people even further. My resistance to it alone accomplishes nothing.

Yeah I tried doing it properly on my Bazzite install. It took exactly one round of Windows updates to bork it in a way that I couldn’t figure out how to fix. I had to start over.

I’ve also been running Kodi on a raspbery pi and have been happy with it. Only issue I’ve had with the pi is I can’t get the overscan settings to work with retropie. But kodi has adjustments for the screen size so it works fine.

Searching commands online is a perfectly valid way to find things, especially if you don’t know how to discover them within the shell. My point is that powershell is fantastic for that and bash is not. Years ago, I read maybe 1/3 of a powershell book and it was enough to set me off and figure most things out on my own from there. It’s rare I have to go online to find something. I’ve read/watched quite of bit of bash content over the years and I can’t say the same. I still struggle with it or have to go back and check my notes all the time. I am more familiar with powershell but I’ve been using bash quite a bit longer. For me that highlights what I’m talking about here in terms of intuitiveness.
As for the inconsistency issue, I’m sure there are inconsistencies in either shell but I’d need more information to explain this one, the only time I can recall something like what you’re referring to would be commands where -Name is a parameter, vs something like a -Filter parameter where you entering name as what you’re filtering for but that would need more than -Filter Name “name” to work(I think). For the most part I find powershell to be very consistent once you understand what’s going on. Bash as well, but it’s harder to get to the “understand what’s going on” stage.

Tab completion isn’t really what I’m talking about here. Powershell’s intuitiveness comes from the ease of finding the command you need. For instance if you type “copy” into bash and hit tab you’re not going to get anything. That’s because the command for copying a file in bash is “cp”. Now, how do you find that out using only the shell? You can use apropos, but who’s going to be able to figure that out without a web search? I had to try several variations of “find commands in bash” just now to get Google to mention it. Most things in bash are like this, there’s no real naming convention and most of the time the names are pretty meaningless by themselves. It’s a big barrier for people who are new to it or only use it sporadically.
Conversely, typing “copy” into powershell and hitting tab you will get a number of options which shouldn’t take much for a beginner to locate copy-item from there or you can find it via the previous methods I mentioned.

Powershells commands are “Verb-Noun” and it makes it easy to search for the command you need. For example Get-Help Get-* will give you a list of all the “Get” commands and a brief description of what they do. Get-Verb will list the approved verbs so you know what verbs to search for. All within the shell. If there’s anything like that in bash I haven’t found it. I always have to search the web to figure out what I’m trying to do with it. Which can be annoying if I’m working directly on a headless system. Powershell also has aliases built in for bash and cmd commands so you can use those if you’re familiar with them. I hate Microsoft but it’s one thing I have to give hand to them.
That’s not to say bash is bad. It’s great. It’s just not nearly as intuitive.

My mom tries to get rid of salesman by deferring to my dad, who then immediately folds to whatever BS the salesman throws his way. He was damn close to signing up to pay someone to put solar panels on their house which he would then also have to also pay for the electricity generated by those panels until I re-stated it to him and was like “do you not see how fucking stupid that sounds? What are you getting out of this?”

Yeah what even is the argument for that? Even if a crime is caught on one of these things they’re still not making anyone safer. The crime still happened and that’s the best case scenario where the crime is caught on tape. From what I’ve seen usually these things provide circumstantial evidence at best.

I have two 602s that I’ve had forever. Unfortunately both are having issues with the switches failing so I’m going to have to figure out something. I replaced the one for the left mouse button in one of them but the ones I bought are so stiff that if you don’t click it exactly right button just flexes, so that’s annoying.

Yeah, it’s unfortunate but until we get robust privacy laws (which won’t happen) none of this shit can ever be trusted. Anyone arguing to put more cameras and microphones into our lives at this point should be met with an ass beating. If it was up to me they would. Instead they have 14 layers of menus you have to click through to find what you’re looking for if they have it at all.
The only inconvenient part about using the terminal is knowing the command to get into the configuration files. Once you’ve done it a few times it’s simple. People just don’t want to do even the minor effort to learn that which is why these days we’re stuck with all these shit applications you can’t reconfigure at all.

It’s not. Ai can do it instantly, and doesn’t have to sleep. The Internet has already been filled with so much shit that huge portions of it are useless. This was happening before ai and is a big part of why ai sucks but not at the rate it is now. People are setting up bots and turning them loose to feed off each other which only magnifies the problem.

Yeah, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Desktop GUIs have been in development for decades, of course there’s going to be little to improve on. Plenty to make worse though, as we’ve seen with Windows.
