Huh we worked with 85% as a number in the last weeks over here. This means he is much more liked then we thought!

I use PiHole/RethinkDNS, but that’s not the point. Of course a company wants to make money, that’s why I pay them a monthly amount for my subscription. If it’s not enough to have a successful business, then ask for more money. But don’t shove spyware up on me. Tidal does not include Facebook spyware, so Tidal it is.

That’s a nice setup. I actually let
resticdo my backups. Is there an advantage of using EncFS/rsync? Like not having to use SSH? -

I am pretty sure Motorola plans to sell flag ship devices with GrapheneOS preinstalled. They won’t support old devices. Also the manufacturer needs to still ship firmware updates for a specific duration for GrapheneOS to support it.

on The Pollution Being Churned Out by AI Data Centers Is So Severe That It's Almost Incomprehensible in c/technology@lemmy.world · 17 Aug 2026
I heard this before:
That is fundamentally a problem with using polluting power sources, not Bitcoin. Bitcoin is just wasting huge amounts of power, but that wouldn’t nearly be as big of a problem with clean power sources.
I am 100% sure big oil is heavily invested in pushing AI data centers.

on In a universe of enshitification, Linux is one of the few things that consistently gets better. in c/linuxmemes@lemmy.world · 11 Aug 2026
I don’t quite remember what I set as this was more than half a year ago. But the images couldn’t be removed as easily, also not from the GUI view, as they were somehow not registered in a certain list that should have shown them. And since then I just use the terminal out of habit.
However I just found an article about Mint removing old kernels once a week automatically.

I had the problem that all old kernel images were kept when updating through the GUI updater. This led to my root partition getting fuller and fuller*. I needed some really obscure commands to remove those old images, since then I only update via terminal. I guess it was some kind of bug, but for me as a standard user it was a really serious one.
*I need to say I made the mistake of splitting root and home and giving the root partition only 40 GB, because I read internet advices about needing to change my distro frequently, turns out that was not the case
