• This ignores the fact we live in a capitalistic hellscape which makes important tech jobs few and far between so they can continue to use us for war, invading privacy, spreading ads, and business software.

  If I could take my skillset and walk into an organization that would use it to do good, and would pay a living wage, I’d do it tomorrow.

  I can draw pictures, and play, or even make games on my own in bedroom.

• You’d have to pair this with removing the mics (as shown above) and clipping the speaker leads (or just damaging the diaphragm enough by poking something through the speaker grille).

  After that?

  Not an audio engy but I image a lot of external amps are built to prevent back-feeding out through the line in.

  Worst case use s/pdif, and you’ll know that the only thing going through that wire is good ol’ one-way pcm-digital audio.

  Also its not impossible to find a sound bar that doesn’t have smart features yet. Even if it is, they tend to age way better than TV’s.

  Personally?

  My living room has a 480i and a 1080i tubes at around 26/27inches each.

  My bedroom has a dumb 1080p panel.

  If I need something prettier I use my higher-res computer monitor (no baked in OS, just firmware for display settings.)

• Honestly my issue is all the kiddos there. 18+ should be enforced.

  Like I get at 27 I might be a coupla years older than the average listener. But I should be able to walk my non-binary boiwife on a leash into a show with songs about petplay without accidentally standing next to someone’s 13 year old.

  The fucking stares from the bartender as if it wasn’t the establishments fault for letting them in, or their parents fault for not doing a fucking modicum of research on the person playing.

  I don’t wanna feel like I could be put in a registry just for following the theme of the concert. It makes me feel creepy and werid, and as a trans woman, it at least feels like there’s a bit more societal danger involved with getting stuck like that than most.

  Even 4K blu-rays have internet connection requirements…

  DRM-free digital copies that can run on open-source software like proton or an emulator. Multiple copies on different production batches, manufacturers, and types of media at different sites.

  Individual disks rot, data rotated across redundant disks will last forever. That’s how you preserve games for the next generation.
