that feature is called “Valet mode”. It’s specifically to stop valets going joy-riding on your $150k car that was faster than most Ferraris back when that feature got added.

Basically, the person that owns the car can always kick out other people’s access.
If she legally registered that vehicle under her partner’s name (instead of her’s), then she’s shit out of luck.

The thing about software is that it’s so big - no one expert can cover even a small fraction of “software”. If you’re a kernel driver developer, you might benefit from having some “automated experts” available in CSS/HTML for the pattern recognition they can offer.
I find it amusing how most experts think AI is great for every field except theirs.

Now I’m actually curious about how things would work in your perfect world.
The current gaming industry in the late stages, so it might be more productive to discuss the mid 2000s.
The vast majority of platform exclusives were made by studios/publishers owned by the platform. Exclusives were in turn a very big part of the value proposition of consoles, causing people to buy them in the first place.
If that had been outlawed by then, who would have produced the iconic games of each platform?

They pay like $700k/year. At that rate I could probably retire in 5-10 years and spend the rest of my life working on open source projects that actually improve the world full time!
Ended up declining the interview, but I considered it very seriously. So I can understand why other people might accept.

Microsoft’s focus is entirely on business customers. Xbox doesn’t align at all with any of their other business strategies.
I’m sure they’d love to sell it off, but it’s like one of the biggest (if not the actual biggest) publishers in the world so I don’t think there’s any company that can afford to buy it.
They could split it up and sell it off in pieces, but they’re not sure if Wall Street will reward them for it. So the best bet for them is to keep it as a buffer for layoffs whenever they need to raise their stock price.
The bullshit part it that our current economic system makes this the most logical path.
tl;dr: Instead of blaming Microsoft for doing layoffs, maybe we should be asking ourselves why we let 3 trillion dollar companies exist in the first place
It offers both. But if you do it remotely from the owner’s phone, it doesn’t require the passcode. Presumably in case you forget the passcode you set in the car.
And once you build the functionality to turn it off remotely, you may as well allow turning it on as well. For example, if you realize you forgot to enable valet mode shortly after handing over the keys, you can still do so.
