• I feel like most of us who got into linux in that era got to truly know it that way - tinkering with it, breaking things and figuring them out by ourselves. In my particular case we didn’t had internet at home until late 2008 so even “simple” things like updating stuff was a real pain in the ass, though the ubuntu cds were salvation.
