With tvs, The smart part has some use for most people. They want to connect to the internet and see their shows and movies. The data stealing, obsolescence, etc are things that most people fail to notice when buying, because they don’t have much knowledge on it. But smart fridges? They simply offer no benefit at all, and with a higher price. I find it very unlikely that they will become the norm on a global scale.

And don’t buy fridges and other appliances from big techs. Period. Get them from industries specialized on that, who have been manufacturing appliances for a long time, like people did all this time

Yes. They can simply ignore you, as if you’re not even there, even if you insist. Then, after several contact attempts, with different people, you realize you’re dead and condemned to roam around that same house for eternity, without being able to ever interact with anyone or anything.

Also, a growing number of research papers show that people rarely notice differences in screen resolution beyond 1080p, or even less, depending on screen size and viewing distance, so most people who go for higher resolution are enthusiasts who do so either as a placebo or to brag about it, instead of actual enjoyment. How should we approach businesses that closed and another opened in the same building? Should we delete and add another, or should we edit and change the name? Does osm keep records of what was in there before, for hisotrical reasons?

No need to be defensive about your ideas like that. The ai craziness came from generative models that create synthetic data. Good old machine learning models have been used a lot to solve many problems and are a perfectly fine tool, that usually doesn’t even need so much hardware resources
