Let’s say the AI doomers are right.
This is still like, 7th or 8th in line of “currently dangerous existential threats to human civilization.”
There is ZERO sense in feeling threatened by autonomous rogue killbots when we’re going to have unaccountable, non-rogue ones supplementing the unaccountable, sentient HUMAN killbots we already have in just a few years, and even if THOSE don’t get you, the 50 degree temperatures will, since you can’t run your AC because the AI data centers have made your electric bill $500, and you can’t go to the pool because the clouds of ash from the uncontrolled wildfires have made the air unbreathable.

I mean, they suck for everyone - don’t get me wrong.
But being able to see them as an ego boost, or having the frustration be that you get low quality matches, as opposed to the punishing experience of “80% of the matches you get at all are catfishing bots” is very different.

That human beings are logical and that they do anything with intention. For the vast majority of people, this is patently false.

That a super intelligence sees revenge as an efficient use of scarce resources, which given both that revenge is nonsensical without the prerequisite biological need for it, and the conclusion of ‘1’, is nonsensical.

That even if 1 and 2 were real, that there’s some inherent timeframe in which the AI thinks it should have been created.
The only real bodily danger of AI is inherent in the the humans who control it.

But it happens when absolute shitnozzles who don’t understand how to do or possess X responsibly expect to be able to have and use X however they want while socializing their personal screw-ups onto other people who never asked for their BS.
When the hype dies and functional and proven AI tools are in the hands of people who can use them responsibly instead of trend-chasers with no discipline, maybe they can start to crack the gate open.
