- They really don’t care about that stuff
- They are using your own phone’s processing power to scan, not theirs. I’m sure they have a phone-home mechanism, but they have no vested interest in scanning server-side when they can do it phone-side.

This article is a year old, but relevant because Discord started doing the verifications again. The plan was never canceled, just delayed to a later news cycle. And this will absolutely happen again because there are no consequences.
