If you want to go utterly mad, you can use rngit reticulum.miraheze.org/wiki/Rngit and broadcast your git server using your own hardware over an entirely different “internet”. Then if the actual internet goes down, people can still send git patches

codeberg’s fine, but it’s not decentralized. It’s a single org running a forgejo instance somewhere in europe. It also banned AI generated code and crypto projects. If you’re not doing either of those, codeberg is possibly the easiest way to get off github.
If you really want decentralized, you can look at radicle. Or you can self-host but that would be unwise if you’re new to it all.

I strongly believe it’s perfectly reasonable to compliment a generally evil person/people when they do a good thing, but hey, my opinions are boring.

Do you consider a post supporting a Trump policy to be as bad as being the largest donor to a far-right party?
Not me. I don’t use it because it’s (mostly) immoral. Sure, it feels like a thorn in the side, a parasite oozing through the walls, but I still enjoy coding.
I also have good reason to believe that nothing resembling modern technology will understand what it’s doing, so we always have that most important edge.
