Yeah, that’s what I meant. An unlimited number of 90 day certs, automatically renewable through ACME. That’s what Let’s Encrypt offers and that’s what I’d need in another cert provider.

ZeroSSL costs 180 per year for unlimited 90 day certs. I get the independence from US-based services, but I don’t want to drop that kind of money on my toy domains.

In that argument the issuer is a private entity. In my argument the issuer is my country itself and they’re not involved in the proof, because it happens on my device. The EUDI wallet, at least in theory, will be trusted, because it is signed by an EU member state. And it runs on my device, so the state doesn’t know what I use it for. Just like a physical ID.

The EU is building the EUDI wallet (or rather requiring each member state to provide a solution) and it will be possible to prove your age with that without disclosing details about your identity. And it’s even possible to do this on your device, so the state won’t know who you’re proving your age to. Just saying that there are ways to do it right. It’s just a matter of whether everybody wants that.

We also don’t do this, because it will lead to people agreeing to be killed for money. Also you’d need everybody involved to undergo a mental evaluation. We wouldn’t want manipulable people bring killed for sport. Because let’s not kid ourselves, that would absolutely happen. And so we just don’t allow it at all.

Way back when, the observed ABAB sequence could be explained by one server using outdated data and another having the new data and visitors being round-robined to each in turn. I have investigated issues like this and this has happened. Not sure how many companies still use a setup like this, though. It’s been K8s clusters everywhere I’ve worked for many years now. This does indeed look like a proper AB test, the HTML already looks pretty clear.
