DSP is a bit of a one joke YouTuber. Yeah, we get it, he’s terrible at games, any sensible person can just continue on with their lives. I have no idea why people watch him, let alone donate to him.
I only hear about him randomly when an odd compilation pops up in the recommendations. I think he recently played Dark Souls 2 and it was a total shitshow from the looks of it? People kept invading him and he just alt+F4d every time.

Who among us can truly know what numbers lie in the hearts of AAA publisher executives? Mark my words, mere consumers can’t even begin to guess the immense scale of these numbers. They are numbers of cosmic magnitude we do not comprehend. Verily, even the executives in question have even vaguest idea of what they are actually asking for, unaware of the true import of their demands.

The problem is that the services are asking for age verification, but to do that, you need to supply them personal information, and the way the information is handled is opaque. You’re handing highly sensitive information to a private company that, more often than not, cannot be trusted to handle that information responsibly for the singular purpose they’re tasked with.
One solution would be an official government service which supplies this information and nothing else. We have “strong identification service” in Finland, they supply your identifying information to government services and businesses that need to have the actual information on record, while you see which information gets shared. There’s no technical reason this service couldn’t just supply “Is this person 18+? Yes/No” and absolutely nothing else, even anything tying this person to any identifier.
Actually, if age verification would become a legal requirement, I’d expect the technical side to be exactly that. I frankly can’t believe the UK half-assed this stuff and went “whatever, let private providers use whatever voodoo they can come up with to make age verification happen”.

Now, some may call that a girlboss stage, but it’s kind of its own separate thing? Once again, real life can not be mapped neatly on a linear axis, I’m afraid.

I can’t believe they posted a Tetris clone to begin with.
Tetris is a game where the perfection is taken away from you. You will only be left with your mistakes, mistakes that haunt you and which keep piling up when pressure increases and it just keeps happening until you lose. You are left with an imperfect wall.
Also it’s a game from Russia.
So, definitely a metaphor for the Trump administration and the border wall.

Basically systemd is not just a replacement for init, it’s a huge project which reimplements a lot of “legacy” services that were handled by other packages. So people think it steps over its boundaries. Not being very Unix-y.
That said, anything is better than bloody sysvinit. Kids these days don’t know how much jank and spaghetti we had to deal with back in those crappy days

Yeah, for most things, GIMP user interface is absolutely fine.
Most of my mild grumbles about GIMP are not really usability problems, rather just features that would be nice to have. (We got better layer groups now, yesss. Non-destructive plugins are finally within the viewing distance. Yay.) There is stuff that GIMP doesn’t do but competing open source apps do, and while there’s interoperability, it could always be better. (I hear GIMP is finally going to come up with a replacement for xcf files, hope they cooperate with Krita devs and blow the dust off the OpenRaster project.)
The only really aggravating GIMP usability thing is that exporting is very janky (would rather have one single unified export dialog with all the settings), but I assume that’s just a thing because of the way GIMP file plugins have worked in the past.

Reminds me of some interview of Linus, where they showed another photo of his workspace. Linus said the first thing people usually notice is the standing desk (he was a bit of a trendsetter). The second thing they notice is the wall colour. They use the paint in mental hospitals. It has a calming effect on the human mind. (Goodness knows Linus needs all the chill he can get.)

I’m in Finland. We have “strong identification services” for logging on government websites, some companies that need to handle personal data, and like.
During the Plague, the people who run the system floated the possibility of providing “has this person been vaccinated? Yes/no” as a type of identification field. And another example that was floated at the same time was “is this person over 18 years old? Yes/no”. Point is, this ID system offers information on need to know basis and the user always sees exactly what information is shared.
So, actually, the most devilish thing to do would be to provide just that information and nothing else. Some weird company needs to know if the user is an adult? Well, just tell them that, and nothing else. If they whine about it, just tell them this system provides them exactly the information they asked for. Also it’s the official government service. No reason whatsoever to doubt its validity! Wait, are they still whining? Well maybe they’re not trustworthy and we shouldn’t provide them this service.

Not long ago, I needed to quickly add a 4-line thing to my Ruby on Rails app on my Raspberry Pi. I was like, shit, I really can’t be arsed to mount the RPi over Samba to edit this stuff on VSCode on my Windows laptop to add like 4 lines. I don’t have vim, I can’t be arsed to check which vimlike I have at hand, I can’t be arsed to see if my Emacs setup has been customised for this RPi. So fuck it, Nano it is!
