Personally, I didn’t care for yuri because the chemistry between Lara and Mari was practically non-existent, so the final message was fine in itself. However, such ending is good in a vacuum – the execution and all the build-up weren’t a good match for it.

unfortunately has lowered my opinion of the show a bit.

A steam body and an electric brain weren’t enough, so Yosuke needs a soul now? He’s been acting creepy in the last couple of episodes, but this one completely knocks it out of the park. Which is tragic, because it was fun seeing Kihachi boss Yosuke around and the moment when they switched to first names was so hilarious in another timeline they could’ve become friends that gush about their obsessions and come to an understanding.

Yosuke is so far gone I wonder how badly it ends for him. It should end badly for Izo, as well. He understands what Yosuke is doing is wrong but still enables him; his devotion is nauseating.

I missed friend group interactions; last couple of episodes were too blatantly divided into three main couples segments.

Last episode Yosuke reacted very dramatically after seeing Saki, and now Saki says she wants to slap him. Looking forward to learn more about the conflict between the siblings.

Whatever is wrong with Yosuke is obviously fun; I enjoy his theatrics. But this episode made me feel so bad for him my eyes are welling up despite all the ridiculous faces animators put up to make the audience laugh (or cringe).

Thank you, Kihachi, for giving Yosuke the catalog and showing us what cutie we’ve lost. I’m devastated and gonna mourn for a week.

I wonder if the sweetheart Seiroku was talking about is Noriko, after all, and if Kengo married her partly to prevent her betrothal to Yosuke, who went for Inako in turn, and that’s why Noriko helps Inako in every possible way.

Ah, Kengo blaming himself for something out of his control, a classic. Kihachi took it as a champ, though. Thanks to Inako Kihachi’s even started to believe in Seiroku’s confidence in his little brother’s inventiveness to the point of letting go of the electrical catalog.

However, I don’t think Yosuke even cares about the promise between him and Seiroku of bringing electricity into the world anymore. Seems like his only goal is to bring Seiroku’s doll(s) to life with electricity.

Tonari no Yokai-san, a slice-of-life drama with mythological elements about supernatural beings and humans peacefully co-existing in the modern world. It’s sad, and beautiful, and heartwarming; one of my favourite shows of 2024. People who liked Natsume’s Book of Friends might enjoy this one as well.

Not only it is funny with perfect comedic timing but it also has one of the best direction for a show on a small budget that makes moving pngs work in its favour. OP and ED are fun. It’s an endearing show.
