• Of course you live in Florida. Your other comments are all explained. How sad, to treat others the way you do when you get even the barest hint of push back. Does it make you feel less impotent, to call people “asshole” and “cunt” when they weren’t even being rude to you? (The mods have, sensibly, removed those comments, and they may feel free to do so to this one, should they feel that this violates community rules). To paraphrase what you said in a different comment I saw a minute ago: if you can’t take the heat, step away from the fire.

• The problem is that the theory of supply and demand requires the assumption that buyers and sellers are rational actors, and if there’s one thing the last 25 years has taught the corpocrats, it’s that humans are not rational, and are easily manipulated.

• In case it was not your intent to point this out with sarcasm, for anyone reading:

  1. not all forests are created equal: new growth forests are simply not as good at long-term burial of carbon.

  2. carbon sinks only work so long as the carbon stays sunk, so if a tree dies and rots before it’s buried, all of that carbon just goes back to the atmosphere, except a lot of it is now methane, which is MANY times worse than CO2.

  3. this means that it is possible for a poorly - managed tree to actually be an effective carbon source for the purpose of greenhouse gas emissions, rather than a sink, since a single molecule of methane can do the damage of a hundred molecules of carbon dioxide.

  4. the largest carbon sink on earth is not the forests, but the ocean, and that carbon only really has two ways out: back into the atmosphere, or buried at the bottom in the calcareous ooze. Now if you really want to understand how fucked we are, read up on the following:

  • Carbonate Compensation Depth (see how it relates to the amount of calcareous ooze being buried in the ocean)
  • Methane Clathrate Hydrate

• I love nebula. Well worth it. Less content, but all but two of my preferred creators are on it (not including Dropout, which is also worth it). For those two, I use Freetube every month or so to check in, but they’re just Tiny little science channels that do simple experiments, and I can find the experiments they cite on their university webpages once I have the names of their demos.
