There’s “Linux Kernel Developer Workspaces” series on youtube. Spoiler: most of them look like dumpsters, even if discounting that it was over 10 years ago. I guess it takes certain type of trash goblin to work on linux kernel.
No, it just takes somebody who cares more about getting stuff done than maxxing performance.
Their work mostly takes place in their minds, the computer is a glorified text editor.
