I reverse engineered the hardware and firmware of my Egret GT E-Scooter. I describe how I got in, analysed communication between components, and reverse engineered firmware. I speak about writing custom firmware for the display unit.

Why would you reprogram an e-scooter in Rust if the objective wasn’t to make it run faster and more efficiently?
security against remote hacking, privacy to use randomized bluetooth MAC address and maybe even disable bluetooth, safety to turn off more gracefully when something malfunctions. some scooters keep the engine running if the throttle is pressed when the head unit reboots
First of all, anything written in rust is automatically hacker-poof. You forgot to mention that part.
I know it cost money, but consider a flipsky or anothe VESA controller.
It’s pre built with all the ways to mod it and bypass the headache. Also it’s a buy once and never buy again(until it breaks).
